The defense is HISTORICALLY BAD. Seriously. It's awful. Rule of 30 in play again, today.

But the argument that "we don't want to fire Kubiak because we don't want to disturb this great offense" is an absolutely worthless one. This is, by no means, a GREAT offense. It is good. At times it is very, very good. But it is nowhere near consistent enough to sweat firing Kubiak over.

    Titans
    Drive 1 - 4 plays - 5 yrds - Downs
    Drive 2 - 3 plays - 1 yrd - Punt
    Drive 3 - 5 plays - 11 yrds - Punt
    Drive 4 - 12 plays - 38 yrds - FG

Look how the Offense helped the Defense today.
Where did the Titans Start on those 1st three drives?

    TEN 45 - 9 plays - 60 Yrds - Touchdown
    TEN 39 - 5 plays - 61 Yrds - Touchdown
    TEN 44 - 6 plays - 44 Yrds - Touchdown

That was the ball game. [No O + Crap Special Teams + Bad Defences = Having to dig yourself out of the hole]

Today, all three phases of the team were PATHETIC. This is the kind of game that should get people fired but....

In this one game sample size, you're correct, I think, RR.

but over the course of the season, this team has been in the top 1/3 of the league in scoring offense. NOT GREAT BY ANY MEANS!! Please don't think I'm suggesting that Gary should keep his job because of this incredible offense he's put together!!!

they've been at the bottom of EVERY defensive statistical category. seriously. they spent most of the season on a pace to finish as one of the worst defenses of all time. they've made average QB's look special.

Our offense is mediocre and our defense is horrible. To only have a mediocre offense with AJ and the best RB in the league is on Kubiak.

Foster is a system RB, playing in a system that Kubiak designed, so that is sort of a flawed argument.

The O-line, while improved at its run blocking, has regressed with pass blocking.

Once Kubiak leaves, somebody else will likely need to get rid of the ZBS, and overhaul the O-line.

Other than Andre Johnson, I'm not sure anything with this team should be viewed as "set." I'm at a total loss as to who's good, who's bad, who's worth keeping, who's worthless.

I think the only keeper on the offensive line is Eric Winston

He's been terrible this year. Just because he has his own radio show, doesn't mean he's that good.

It's not the defense's fault that the offense goes 3 and out or quick turnover in a lot of those situations. In the wins, there were 5 out of 20 drives that resulted in offense being on the field 3 plays or less. 25% of the drives were giving the ball back to the other team quickly. In the losses I counted 17 out of 36 possessions that gave the ball back quickly. That's just under half.

When the offense can stay on the field early, the chances of a Texans victory were better. I think the only time we had a good first half and LOST the game was against SD.

I thought so last year and early this year but if you watch him on screen passes and other things he is very similar to Roger Craig or Marcus Allen. He has some hidden illusiveness that sometimes you can see on his runs. No, he isn't Barry Sanders or Marshall Faulk but he seems to be able to perform well under any scheme. He is really good on screen passes, if we could learn to set one up AND not have a holding/illegal block when we do get it set up.

Any argument that the offense is blameless is silly: even the '72 Dolphins (or whenever that was) have places they can improve. The offense is good, not great.

However, any "logic" that would pin a substantial amount of blame on this offense is misguided. Every offense has 3-and-outs, turnovers, etc. from time to time that hand the defense a short field. If our defense wasn't an all-time toilet bowl then nearly every short field wouldn't mean 7 points for the other team.

Additionally, that "short field" folks keep whining about has a lot more to do with a pathetic punter and a horrible return game than it does the offense.

By all means, he's the man no matter what regime is here... I was just refuting the previous poster who says that we should be better on offense since we "have the #1 RB in the league."

The running game, as a whole, has improved much this year with a combination of improvement in the ZBS (especially Myers, who can't pass block worth a damn, but is a good fit at center for the ZBS) as well as Foster getting the majority of the carries. But Ward has done very well in his time there. Slaton probably would have done okay (but likely would have fumbled). However, neither of them are the reciever that Foster is.

My guess is if they have to abandon the ZBS, Myers may be the man to go... as he is undersized as a center. He is, however, one of the key reasons why Foster is a league leader in rushing yards this year.
