For someone who's not suppose to make a lot of mistakes, Fitzpatrick sure makes a lot of super risky throws. Even in his one good game against the Falcons he threw some passes that were nearly picked off.
People can't move on... in this day and age, accuracy and zero fear (with a bundle of intelligence) is soooooooo much more important than chucking a pass 60 yards. Deep passes are a great way to get your QB killed. Sure, you mix one in every now and again... but there's a reason JaMarcus Russell was a terrible NFL QB despite a huge arm.
Uhm.. what scouting report are you reading? His career is one giant mistake. The guy is a turnover machine.
He's being treated carefully because he's awesome and has gotten plenty of reps in practice. I have a lot more faith he will play about as much as he has in the past and still has not shown any decline. I don't think Foster and AJ are still the same guys that they were and aren't going to be able to put the offense on their backs especially with Fitz at QB. In other words, what you see is not going to be materially changed by AJ and Foster even though I think AJ will help some. (Foster, I'm not so sure of as he is much more dependent on blocking)
i'd like to see watt in the "1.21 gigaWatt package", a set of plays for 3rd and inches and 4th and 1.
I guess I should define long as anything over 20 yrds Is that a ridiculous number to consider? Rocket River
The winning TD was 32 yards - does it really matter that it "only" traveled 12 yards in the air? (Though, to be fair, it was technically a 20-yard pass.) Manning threw 27 passes; NFL.com's play-by-play mechanism labeled 20 "short;" the NFL is no longer a vertical passing league. It's all about creating space.
That's Fitzpatrick in a nutshell. He forces a lot of passes. He'll throw some TDs and he'll throw some INTs as well. The last two games is pretty much what I expect from him. Some nights he will do well enough to get us the win, other nights, he might cost us or hurt us.
Well if you were to overlook the fact that JaMunchies' couldn't stop eating cheeseburgers, was dumb as a box of rocks, did not know the playbook, lacked the ability to throw accurate passes and most other QB skills then yeah, I suppose you can blame his demise on throwing the deep ball...that is on those occasions when the football happened to come down in the general vicinity of the receiver. But boy! He could throw a football 70 yards while on one knee...
??? I said he was a failure *in spite of the fact* he could throw a deep; precisely for the reasons you list. Accuracy, football intelligence and just enough fearlessness is what separates QBs these days. Great arms are not really required.
