I know the play book is 'dumbed down' for preseason I know we not seeing the Full Monty but I don't see alot of stretching the field here. I see alot of dinking and dunking 3 yrds and . . well 3.yrds Someone more familiar with Penn State care to help me understand Is this what I should expect all year. I have not watched every second of every game so I might have missed something Rocket River
as long as we get a 4.1 yard from a run between passes, we should be good. 4.2 for reassurance. so no sacks or turnovers please!
New Coach, New Offense, Preseason, Still showing only vanilla, QB not nearly as good as the one they had 2 years ago, aging RB, aging star WR.
After watching Schaub flutter and float the ball all over the field last year, Fitz's arm looks positively Favre-esque. Haven't seen him go deep, but his short and intermediate routes have some zip.
What does Arian and AJ have to do with what we have seen from the offense so far? Arian has yet to play a game and AJ has played all of what, maybe 15 plays? To the OP, as others have said, Fitz is going to be a dink and dunk kind of guy. I don't see the Texans airing out the ball unless they have to or after plenty of build up on a possible PA.
he has accuracy issues all-around, not just down field. At least Schaub's softballs were to the right spot, even if the defender cut in front and picked it off.
BOBs offense is not going to throw deep very much... Expect a lot of throws to the TEs and AJ over the middle mixed with a heavy dose of running. If we can throw less than 25 times a game we should be okay.
If we can pick up first downs, I really don't care how far he throws the ball. Dink and dunk offenses work just fine as long as receivers are able to get YAC. THAT'S a much more important stat in this style of offense.
BOB at NE wasn't really dink and dunk. Yea alot of short throws but alot of YAC. NE used tons of 5 wide, including TEs and RBs out wide, which we really haven't seen. Also used TEs as FBs including 3 TEs sets. I think it's too early to label as dink and dunk. Also, no Arian so far and to me he is a key. BOB loves isolating a pass catching RB against a LB or S. If Arian is healthy he will kill in this offense as a receiver.
I was pleased to see some different type of plays run than what I was expecting. Passes when I would usually see runs from Kubiak. That sort of thing. It was refreshing.
I think we'll see a ton of routes like this for Arian and the RBs. Shotgun, 3 wides, 2 RBs in the backfield. Get the RB isolated on a LB and take the easy money.
