All they really sacrificed was a third and fourth round pick. The second rounder became a first, and they flipped fifth rounders.
i don't understand the babin trade. cc must have decided that the 3rd and 4th round picks wouldn't bring much. kinda seems like putting all your eggs in one basket, though. oh well, i'll trust the pick for now, but i'll be scratching my head while i'm doing said trusting. dunta robinson sounds awesome, btw.
Guess what......... In the third round, The Titans, with the 71st pick they recivevd from Houston, selected Randy Starks DT Maryland. I'm not feelin the Babin deal.......but I hope I'm wrong.
Babin was a good pick. His stock kept rising and rising after the season ended. He will have a chance to make an immediate impact on our team rather than just be another 2nd or 3rd rounder that needs time to develop. As other above mentioned, we really didn't give up as much as it looks like. We traded our 2nd rounder for a 1st rounder. Essentialy only giving them a 3rd and 4th rounder. Plus we still have another 4th rounder. Then the 5th rounders that are just gambles,IMO, were flip flopped. If we have any hopes of reaching the playoffs this year, having 2 people that can fill holes this year rather than 1 makes a big difference.
I like the 2 picks! Thus far, C.C. , Capers & Co. has done a solid job on the draft. They just gave up a 3rd & 4th, & flip-flop the 5th for someone they really like, in J.B. Remember, D.C. has alot of experience with D-linemen. Who cares who the Titans picked , The Texans must try 2 get more quality than quantity in their 3rd season ! Also we stole R. Smith from them who i really like! Plus, we have 6? more picks on day two.
xlr817, I would beg to differ with your statement that you "stole Robaire Smith from the Titans". I think you guys are paying him quite nicely for his services. I think Floyd Reese stole some picks from the Texans in the Babin trade. That was an excellent trade from the Titans perspective. We ended up getting Ben Troupe who they were planning on using the 27 pick for anyways. Plus Randy Starks is the youngest player in the draft and is already a monster for a DT. The Titans just reloded on the DL and DT through this draft. Titan fans sincerely thank Charley Casserly for making the draft that much more enjoyable to watch for Titan fans!!!
For anyone who doesn't know, the Texans have selected: Rd 4, Pick 122 - Glenn Earl, safety from Notre Dame Rd 4, Pick 159 - ANOTHER TRADE - Pick has been traded to Jacksonville!
On ESPN, it said the trade happened on Day One, but on the Draft Cast, it had happened right then. Didn't hear about it on HoustonTexans.com or on here...but here are the details for the trade: Texans get: Jacksonville's fifth-round pick (No. 159), which they used to select Illinois OT Sean Bubin. The most recent Texans picks: Rd 6 - Pick 170 - VONTEZ DUFF (CB) NOTRE DAME Rd 6 - Pick 175 (from Jacksonville) - JAMMAL LORD (RB) NEBRASKA
