agreed, but when you just went 2-14 and made some of the personel moves that they made last year. A LOT needs to be changed. i'm not sure a new coaching staff can get the same guys to just simply play better and get the texans to the playoffs. things like that don't happen a lot with 2-14 teams.

but being a dallas fan and seeing what jimmy johnson did by trading one player for additional draft picks that turned into the likes of an emmitt smith and a handful of other players that built a dynasty, sometimes if someone is desperate for ONE guy, you can get A LOT in return. if that situation presents itself to the texans, they need to take a long hard look at that option. it may not be popular with the fans or media, but if it works out and the team becomes good or even great, they forget VERY easily.

The 03 Chargers were 4-12 and the 04 Chargers were 12-4. It can be done.

That'd be awsome. He hits as hard as any safety I've seen.

Where is he projected to go?

    I'm guessing 2nd maybe 3rd round.

I've heard 3rd-4th, but he could move up to second if he performs well at the combine.

there are A LOT more problems with the texans than there were with the chargers. the chargers had an awful defense but a very good defense. they also made a lot of personel changes and made wade phillips their defensive coord. in short, the texans need a lot more than the the chargers did to get better. the texans are a very poor team across a lot of different fronts.

i agree. i'm not sure where the idea comes that this team is one draft away from being a playoff team...or even a competitive team. i don't get it.

defensive line? awful. no pressure. ever.

defensive backs? well...we have one good corner. need help everywhere else. marlon mccree is sure looking good, though, isn't he?

offensive line? awful. attempts each year to break its own previous record for sacks allowed

quarterback? jury is still out. no one knows for sure yet...at least partly because of the OL, above.

running back? DD is the lone bright spot. i like morency, as well. i think our group here is the best group of players we have on the team.

tight ends? do we even have one?

    receivers? well...there's Andre...and then there's....well....ummmmm...did i mention Andre?

kick returner? sadly, he might be our best player.

This team has so many weak spots and holes it's silly. we earned that 2-14 record.

There are many people (Most obviously Dan Reeves and Charlie Casserly) who think the team is much better than the record.

Nope! Could have won 2-3 more games (especially the ones they gave away)

But that doesn't mean the team is better. They don't have the talent.

I hope Bob McNair realizes the team must rebuild, avoid quick fix and start over with a better base than what they started with 4 yrs ago.

Doesn't matter if they take Young or Bush if the next 7 or 8 picks are really good ones and they get good position coaches.

Most likely, only 3 (maybe 4) players in the draft will start. If McNair/Reeves thought that the team needed a major overhaul, they wouldn't have kept Casserly.

We would obviously be adding more than one drafts worth of players. We will have a completely new coaching staff, we have, as it stands now, 4 picks in the top 66 of the draft - they should be able to contribute, we will add players durig FA that should help, and some of younger players should mature and develop (Mathis, Brown, Earl, Babin, Peek, and Morency). This can all add up to dramatic changes in the record for next season. I am not saying they will for sure make the playoffs, but you cannot guarantee they won't either. Again, they were not drastic changes in personel from the 03 and 04 Chargers teams that went from 4-12 to 12-4.

that is EXACTLY why casserly needs to go too! he has done an awful job of evaluating talent and paying accordingly. you can't just go out and a pay a ton of money to guys who haven't proven a whole hell of a lot.

I agree with this. Morlon Greenwood - horrible contract. Todd Wade - horrible contract Marcus Coleman - horrible contract. Buchannon - horrible trade. Babin - I will hold out judgement on him as they have asked him to play a completely different position than he did in college, BUT they gave up too much to get him.

you're right...i can't guarantee anything about pro sports. just giving my opinion. i don't see a good young team on the rise. i'd love to be wrong.

I personally believe things can be turned around much sooner than most probably think, BUT I am assuming a good draft (which I characterize as getting 3-4 contributors) and some decent FA moves. I would love to see us go after Vaden Bosch as a DE from the Titans. Gotta love taking players from rivals. I am also thinking that ALOT of our problems stemmed from poor coaching - I am hoping the new staff will cure that.

If turned around means winning 5-7 games I agree. But alot of people still think this was somewhat of a fluke year (like Dan Reeves). The season we won 7 games was the fluke year.

Look at the talent. Bad run defense, not near enough QB pressure, poor coverage in the secondary. There is one guy on the defense that we don't need to upgrade- D. Rob

Offensive line- well they could use at least 3 positions- and the TE?- none
Another receiver in the worst way.

I think we are 12 players away from a decent team - 8-10 wins.

We are just an expansion team, we need to be patient.
We had the wrong GM building the team, we need to be extra, extra patient (he will eventually be fired)
