I dont know about the TItans taking Cutler at 3, but I could definitely see D'Brick going there. I think a trade with the Jets could still net us Bush. I would be happy with D'Brick, Hawk, Williams, or Bush.
Trade the number one pick for a starting, established, near All Star offensive lineman and a starting, established, near All Star defensive lineman AND the other team's number one pick. Trade with NO or Tenn and maybe get VY too. In other words, shoot for the stars.
It completely seems possible to me. N.O. NEEDS a QB badly, as do the Jets. I think NO takes which ever is left in a trade scenario. Tenn doesn't have to have a QB. They still have McNair as well as Volek. Hopkins is rouhgly 187 years old so I think D' Brick is certainly a possiblity. NO doesn't need a RB they have Deuce. Bush could absolutely fall to fourth. Tenn might trade down, but I doubt it if they want the LT because if they trade down and leave DF we'll take him at 4. This all assumes a trade between us and NYJ.
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5363342 INDIANAPOLIS - What if the Oakland Raiders are in position to draft Texas quarterback Vince Young, the hero of this season's national championship game? It may sound ludicrous, considering Oakland picks seventh in the first round, but it's not a far-fetched scenario, primarily if Tennessee and the New York Jets pass on the talented Texan. If that happens, Young could easily slip to the Raiders because it doesn't make sense that the Packers and 49ers would draft a quarterback, either. Well, the Jets are looking at drafting a quarterback, considering their pending divorce with good-guy, bad-shoulder Chad Pennington, but they apparently are eying Vanderbilt quarterback Jay Cutler, who is described by many as the next coming of Brett Favre. Cutler wowed the scouts by bench-pressing 225 pounds 28 times here at the scouting combine and won many admirers by basically challenging Young and Matt Leinart to come out and throw with him. They declined, of course. Sounds interesting to me.
Watching PTI and they just talked to the Houston Reporter they alwasys talk to regarding things going on in Houston. Can't remember his name right off the top of my head but i think it was Richard Justice. He basically said the Texans are sort of Obligated to listen to all these offers people are calling them about the number 1 pick. He said there is little chance that the Texans actually trade the number 1 pick. So it seems more of a formality other than anything else that they are even talking to these teams regarding the pick. Personally i don't see them moving the pick.
I'm so happy Cutler's stock is rising, it really makes our pick that much more valuable. Here's how I look at it (assuming we trade with the Jets): 1. Jets- Leinart 2. NO- Cutler 3. Titans- Could trade w/ 49ers to net them Bush or Raiders for VY. 4. Texans- Whoever is left between Bush/VY. Of course this all depends on whether or not NO wants Cutler or VY. As long as Cutler's stock continues to rise, the better the chance at a player like Bush/VY at #4.
Casserly was just on Sports Center. He didn't say much more than we know. But he said Young's aweful test score on the wonder test isn't that much important to him. He said it was the least important part of the workouts/testing.
Cutler wowed the scouts by bench-pressing 225 pounds 28 times here at the scouting combine and won many admirers by basically challenging Young and Matt Leinart to come out and throw with him. They declined, of course. This is such a stupid test. I am shocked the NFL even uses it.
I guess you are referring to the Wonderlick, if so, I completely agree. John Clayton on ESPN said that Cutler was wowing the scouts with his arm strength. I think he ran a 4.77 40 which isn't all that great, but he said his arm strength was very impressive. Said he move up into the 1st Round but I think he moved up much more than that. Here's the list of Top 5 players that improved their ranking through the combine: 1. Chad Jackson- 4.32 40 2. Vernand Davis- 4.38 40 3. Eric Winston- 4.9 40 but good agility, showed knee isn't a problem 4. Sinorice Moss- 4.34 40 5. Jay Cutler
I would like to see the Texans take Vince, the Jets trade up to take Bush, and the Titans go with Cutler. I think that is what all six of those parties want, isn't it? However, if the TItans end up with Vince, I'll be very content.
According to some of the reports, the Jets really like Leinart. I can see them taking Bush since C. Martin is getting quite old but it seems like they really want a QB, especially with the problems Pennington has had the last 2-3 seasons. I have the feeling that the Titans will either go with Cutler or trade down, D'Brick could be a possibility as well.
John Abraham would be the more likely trade possibility for the Jets. The Texans would need to have talks with his agent and whatever kind of handshake deal that is legal. Swap #1 for #4 plus Abraham. They need to find a trade for him to help their cap probalems anyway. He was designated with the franchise tag but he wants a longer deal with up front money. We need a real DE to go to the 4/3. We could get an agreement that they would take Cutler ot Leinert, That just leaves NO and with McAlister (I don't think they would pass on a QB) and Tennesee (Vince?) And with Bush still available.... we trade down again! (Niners to get Bush before the Packers?) We could still get D'brick or Hawk.
The Jets really do have QB problems, although I've heard them associated with both Drew Brees and Patrick Ramsey. I just heard one time that Bush really liked NY, so I was just dreamcasting to make him and Vince and Cutler happy. The Titans (with Chow) might be hard-pressed to bypass Leinart. Is it feasible then for the Texans and the Jets to switch and the first picks go like this: 1. Jets: Leinart 2. Saints: Young 3. Titans: Cutler 4. Texans: Bush and other Jet valuables If Bush were to be gone, the Texans could trade down further with someone who covets him (Packers or Raiders) and get still more assets by trading down. 4. Packers: Bush 5: Texans: Ferguson, OT, UVa or Williams, DE NC State or AJ Hawk LB OSU plus Packers prize 6. 49ers: Williams, DE NC State 7. Raiders: AJ Hawk, LB, OSU
I don't see the 3 QB's going 1-2-3 (assuming the trade down with the Jets that many are proposing. I think the Texans would have to be offered the best trade in history to even consider trading the pick. I still think they take Bush #1 when all is said and done.
