If the Texans DO trade down, they better get ALOT or this will come back & haunt them! I hope CC won't BUNGLE this one, & please NO more keep on trading down fiasco! Also it makes me cringe everytime CC mentions " value picks"! I like BUSH, but if not....Super Mario (cuz I'm tired of seeing the other team's QB eating a sandwich & still having alot of time to throw a completion)!
D'brick is also a good option to keep Carr from becoming a vegetable. But I WOULD'NT go any further then these two! This draft is just too important for the Texans if they want go anywhere besides staying in basement!

I am thinking that someone coming for the top pick will be after Leinart, or Cutler. They are pro style quarterbacks with size who have performed at the highest level in college. The best scenario is for the Titans, Jets and Saints to fall in love with one of those guys. The Texans could still pick up Bush, or Young at a slightly smaller contract and pick up some talent in the bargain.

    I agree.

Unless Bush or VY exceed what I think they will in workouts (e.g., Bush comes in at 210 and runs a 4.3 40, great lower body strength, great shuttles, etc--which I don't think he will do; VY throws the heck out of the ball and runs a sub 4.45--also questionable) I lean towards trading down at this point.

DBrick would be my fall back right now.

Heh, something we can agree on. :)

D'Brick + Vilma would be worth the #1 for sure. It might not sit well with a lot of Houstonians. But that is pretty good compensation in my opinon.

I think you might be setting the standard too high. I highly doubt that Bush won't be 210 come his workouts, but I don't think it would matter anyways.

"...Although it doesn't quality is a genuine bombshell, Casserly certainly caught plenty of attention at the Scouting Combine when he disclosed to the media that the Texans already have had trade discussions with a "couple of teams" interested in moving into the No. 1 spot.

He didn't identify them or mention what they were offering, but a hot rumor circulating here for the past several days is that New York Jets willing to make a deal with the Texans to move up from the No. 4 spot in order to draft a replacement for quarterback Chad Pennington, who is recovering from shoulder surgery and was recently asked to take an $8 million pay cut. As the rumor goes, the Jets supposedly covet former USC quarterback Matt Leinart..."

trading down means that the Texans are thinking strong foundation and not about selling tickets this season or even next season.

because if they wanted to sell tickets...Bush/VY would be an obvious choice.

    Lets see:

Sell tickets and please the crowd for 2 seasons

    vs.

Win a Superbowl 4 years down the line

...I don't know, help me out gys

If Young and Cutler both show worthy, there is a real possibility that Bush could fall to #4. I could see us trading with the Jets and because No, Tenn and the Jets all need QBs in the worst way I could see the draft playing out like this.
    #1 Leinart Jets
    #2 Young, Cutler NO
    #3 Cutler, Young Tenn
    #4 Bush Texans

If this happened I could see us dangling Bush in front of the Raiders and 49ers and trading down again. With Mario Williams, Debrickashaw Ferguson and A.J. Hawk still on board this would be a no lose situation for us.

If that's how it went, Tenn would probably make the offer to the Raiders/49ers knowing that we won't take Cutler.. (assuming Vince and Leinart go 1/2)

For you guys that think the Jets would trade Vilma to move up three spots, keep dreaming. Were not ging to get on of the best young defensive players in the NFL for moving doown 3 spots. We should get plenty of draft picks though.

Agreed. Unfortunately for the Texans, Casserly's track record with draft picks is about as bad as it can get.

do you honestly think it's that easy? Bush/VY could win championships...just because you trade the pick doesn't mean you're on your way to a Super Bowl.

I'm more worried about the fact that Casserly's been clowned in every single trade he's executed.

So I guess that rules out everything but just using the pick. ;)

I guess it's a little more assuring that Kubiak is now behind the scenes, hopefully it will ultimately be his decision on what they do with the pick.

Assuming the Texans get good value for the pick, I don't want us trading out of the Top4-5.

Is Jay Cutlet really going to make it into the top 3? If we trade down to #4 that means either Bush or Vince falls into our lap, in addition to another player and picks.

From what I've been reading, everyone is enamored with him, so I think he very well could (especially if we were to trade down). Cutler is making this draft pick even more valuable for us. :D

In my opinion, we might actually be able to trade down with the Jets, pick up AT LEAST an extra second rounder (possibly their first rounder next year), and still get Vince Young or Reggie Bush. If you're a Texans fan, you gotta be loving it.

That could definitely be a possbility. Assuming the Jets take Leinart, it all depends on Cutler and how the Saints feel about him. If they take Cutler, I would assume that the Titans take Bush since I'm pretty sure Norm would give the nod to Bush over VY.
