I shared with a co-worker (he never walks alone IYKYK) who said "it looks like a circus... much like their team".
It’s for the retractable roof…. They’re going to have one that unfurls from the center with cables, like they have in Vancouver.
Also: HLSR: ~326 million economic impact (low guesstimate) Texans: ~464 million (low guesstimate) If people think that the County, and the Rodeo, don't play a part in this ("just build it themselves!") they're delusional.
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/texans/article/mike-tomon-nrg-new-stadium-20206627.php Houston Texans president Mike Tomon told the Houston Chronicle that the team has been focused on figuring out how to best renovate NRG Stadium. But he did not rule out the possibility that the team, which is owned by Cal McNair, could some day pursue a new stadium altogether. “We are open to all options, of course, as we go through it,” Tomon said in an in-depth interview with the Houston Chronicle. “But our priority and our focus has really been on the renovation.” Tomon emphasized, though, that the Texans plan to remain in Houston regardless of whether they’d build new stadium or renovate NRG. “We’re not leaving greater Houston,” he said. “Emphatically, we are here. That’s not an option on the table for us to go somewhere else. “But beyond that, inside of that, we are focused in on the renovation.”
It would make 0 sense to leave the 4th largest city in the United States in todays times with market social media coverage etc it changed things this isn’t the 90s
You mean piece of crap South and Southwest Houston thug employees ruining the experience? If it was the same Stadium in The Woodlands you would have better ratings
Not sure it was ever a threat to leave entirely but moreso moving outside Harris County. Worse case it'll be somewhat like the Niners (who play in Santa Clara) or the LA teams (who play in Inglewood). Even the Cowboys play in Arlington.
“If you run into an a*****e in the morning, you ran into an a*****e. If you run into a******s all day, you're the a*****e.” -- Raylan Givens
Of course they're not leaving Houston. People aren't stupid to the point of making ridiculous business decisions.
The Texans have only paid 4M in rent since existence. That’s CRAZY! https://www.houstonchronicle.com/ne...le/houston-texans-rent-tax-break-20147703.php
Article spells it out pretty clearly.... the Texans agreed to an increased rent in exchange for receiving rebates on tickets/parking/merchandise sales. Somebody smarter in the Texans financial office could clearly see that the latter would easily pay for the former... and its done that, and then some. Sorta like when the movie star agrees to cut his paycheck in exchange for gate revenue.
why is that crazy? they play like 8 games a year there. Usually Sunday morning, when nobody else would use the place. Its not like Astros who use their place 160 times a year during peak event hours.
