They should build a new one in the parking lot next to the old stadiums and let people have adventure tours in the ruins of the Astrodome and NRG.

Agreed. Build the new stadium right next to NRG. That way you could have a new stadium right next to TWO rat-infested dilapidating old stadiums that the city refuses to tear down. And across the freeway from the dirt parking lot that used to be Astroworld.
Honestly - they don't deserve any funding for a new stadium. They haven't ever won anything and the crappy owners have made a lot of money off the team. If they want to move - go ahead, I will take my chance on a winner coming to town.

You are confusing the city and county. Harris County is the one that would negotiate with the Texans.
Let them put up a Go Fund me account then. All the hotel owners, restaurants and business owners who see profits coming their way with a new stadium can fund it. If the McNair family decides to leave town like the Adams family to get a fancy state of the art stadium so be it.
This may come off as pretty harsh. But I think the Texans should at least win something before asking for a new stadium. And no, winning the division isn't that impressive.
Yeah, I'm not sure how this is all going to eventually go down, but if it comes down to a referendum....goodbye Texans. Just look at the sentiment in this thread. And this is a sports website! Imagine how the people who don't care about sports are going to feel about a taxpayer funded football stadium.
Titans getting a new stadium is going to look great …. At this point, it feels like it’s about ego and keeping up with the Joneses… I only went once, but the Texans have a great stadium. Just freaking keep it. What the heck it’s only 20 years old.
They can at least fix the sound quality on the speakers. Everytime they have a video playing on the screen or talking I can’t hear much of the audio. I could tell during this last playoff game they were trying to play jj watts hype video and you could barley hear it lol

NRG is only 6 years younger than the Astrodome was when the Oilers moved… and that stadium had already undergone a major renovation to make it “updated”. Stadiums now a days have about a 20-25 year life span. The Texans should sever ties with the rodeo, get the tax free land subsidy from the city (or a suburb if they want to go to the one where most of their season ticket holders live). Build a new place along with a surrounding entertainment district/hotel/outdoor space… and then keep all the profit that area generates year round. It’s the current model for mostly all the new NFL stadiums that are coming up. Not sure why they’d want to hassle with the county again… there’s already been concern about their ability to perform necessary infrastructure/maintanence upkeep on all the stadiums in houston (not just NRG) plus they won’t have to worry about the Astrodome anymore. The NRG grounds will still be there for the rodeo. It will be the Houston version of what the Cotton Bowl/State Fair is in Dallas. (The Rockets/Toyota Center is even more outdated and an awful game day experience compared to newer NBA arenas…. They won’t be far behind. Astros field pre-dated both of them and is still the best stadium this city has ever built).
