Yea, not to get political but, I don’t want the government paying for a damn stadium while many Houstonians are struggling!
What's wrong with NRG stadium? It is still a great stadium. It is only 23 years old, not like 50 years old.
It's the surroundings. Other stadiums have other attractions; hotels, restaurants, museums, amusement parks, etc NRG has the Astrodome, NRG Park and a 60 yr old hotel across the street. And oh, I forgot Papadeaux
Wouldnt mind it being there, but EDO is East Downtown.... Galena Park is way east HOUSTON. like outside the loop.
Upgraded concourse Smart Parking Improved sightlines More club & luxury seating Better turf management system / retractable field (look what they did for AC Milan with Santiago Bernabeu) Translucent roof (so you can see the rain ) Virtual goal posts (shout out to Madden) Oxygen tents (Madden) Nano grass (Madden) Laser surgery / improved medical facilities (Madden) Holographic replays (Madden) Solar energy Collects rainwater for conversion into drinkable water and / or sanitation water On-site gambling resources Upgraded hotel facilities Better convention resources Tunnels from hotel to stadium Largest smartscreen / scoreboard in the world
More suites, better video boards, natural grass, better roof, better hospitality options surrounding the stadium, hopefully better parking and access to the stadium
Tailgaters still have fun. Nobody going to watch the football game neads amusement parks and museums nearby. Get that grill going and enjoy the tailgate party.
according to the article, nrg conditions were found to be below average when compared to other nfl stadiums
I am in this camp, the stadium is fine, do some renovations if you like but I am not in favor of the city paying for a new stadium. One caveat, the city needs to help with the demo of the Astrodome, it's an eye sore and it's so expensive to deconstruct................make it a park or anything else but dam, quit talking about it and do something
Renovations to the nearly 30-year-old stadium could cost up to $1.4 billion, for perspective AT&T Stadium cost $1.3 billion to build.
NRG is not even old. I don't support a new stadium and if the McNair's want to move the team because of it, so be it. It would just prove how greedy and corrupt they are. Houston is a top NFL city with passionate fans. Football is king in Texas. There's nowhere else with the population and passion for football that doesn't already have an NFL team.
