fyi, nobody says number ones. it's first rounder(s) but since you brought it up lets have a look. dunta robinson- pass jason babin-fail travis johnson-push mario williams-pass amobi okoye-push wow, the texans are pretty much 50-50, thats actually higher than the NFL average for "number 1's"
-Kubiak ended up costing us the game with the no-TO gaff in the 1st quarter. I would have hoped even one of the players would have had the sense to call TO if he wasn't going to. -I think our draft picks are contributing/paying dividends (Mario, Ryans, Slaton were great), but our continued failure in free agency is what's hampering us (subpar CBs, OLBs). -NFL OT is crap for sure. I'd rather an OT that becomes sudden death if still tied after 6 min (with playing continuing uninterrupted - no SD coin flip). -Schaub looked a lot better this week.
I think the college OT blows but the NFL OT could us a little tweaking, especially with the range of the kickers these days. NFL OT should be sudden death if a team scores a touchdown or after both teams have had the ball once. If a team only scores a field goal on its first possession then the opposing team should get one possession to tie or win. Once both teams have had the ball at least once then go straight sudden death.
I don't think anyone's arguing that no defense would stop an offense, period. The inherent context is to stop an offense between the 20s. Teams can get stops, even in shootouts, when the field is compressed. (And even if they can't, the NCAA enforces a go for 2 policy after the second OT.) It's very, very difficult to stop a good offense from reaching the 35-yard line, and that's all that needs to be done in an NFL overtime. The NCAA rules are inherently different, because being able to punch it in is significantly more difficult.
What the hell does the actual digits of the score matter? Unless you bet on the over/under line, it's nothing more than cosmetic. The bottom line is winning or losing and finding out who the better team is on that given day. I could care less if the final scores are 120-118, if it's a more logical system than what we have.
blah blah blah same old argument the rules are antiquated and need to be replaced everyone agrees (how did I know you would be the one to take the opposite position in this argument? its like your destiny to play devils advocate with me on this freaking forum.)
This loss is so much more tolerable. Offense looked good... I really like Slanton and using in out of the backfield as a receiver. Matt looked great and made pretty good decisions. This loss is on Kubiak and the defense. Kubiak getting outcoached as usual...and the defense's lack of any turnovers, getting burned time and time again on slants and could not contain Gerrard.
I say give molden an oppurtunity to make plays out there. He's young freakishly athletic and we should probably develop the guy. We need more playmakers on our defense.
This loss isn't on the OT rule, it's on a defense that couldn't make one stop when it counted. I thought I was watching Madden the way Garrard was tucking and running
If this were the case, the majority of NFL possessions would end in scores of some kind instead of punts or turnovers. Jacksonville certainly hasn't done that this season.
he's nothin to right home about, but he's far from a miserable failure. besides, he's a casserly pick.....moot point.
maybe i just agree with the rule, i really don't care about you that much, get over yourself, you b****ed about the rule twice so I responded, I don't think i've argued with you on anything for a while. you don't like vince, i do, you're a homer, i'm not, it leads to some disagreements. but please, I'm not part of your destiny lorraine
You must be joking... He has one sack in his career, think about that for a moment, one sack in over 3 seasons. That sack came in his first season, so hasnt had a sack in over 2 years. He shouldnt even be in this league. I dont know why the hell we continue to use him.
It's not about how well you think each individual player is. It's that out of 7 drafts we've drafted 5 defensive players in the first round. We've spent the majority of our high draft picks on defense and it hasn't seemed to help. That's the point. And people refer to first rounders as a number one draft choice all the time.
