You have got to be kidding me. It is becoming harder and harder to take anything you say regarding the Texans seriously.
Technically, Brees isnt the reason they had a breakout year...they were 8-8 with him the year before. They added some vets to that team and thats what pushed them over the hump. And I cant believe Schaub just got pulled into this...
really? antonio smith jacques reeves chris brown ahman green pollard ( ! ) that o-lineman from KC? they may not have added the vets you or i like, but they've added vets.
bunch of homeruns right there... that's exactly where a lot of my dissent is coming from, the fact the Texans routinely overpay or extend contracts to the marginal fringe-type players, never trying to swing for the fences to shore up a LEGITIMATE free agent. year in and year out we go for the antonio smith's and weaver's and ahman green's... f*** that. that's given us 8 YEARS of mediocrity. if it means spending a little more than you would normally like, so be it. if the team has no problem spending serious cash on completely unproven draft picks, why do they have such a hard time spending that money on proven veterans? i don't need them to throw money at every big name free agent that comes around, but if there's a solid FA out there that addresses a serious need stop pussyfooting around and SIGN HIM.
you are so right. i think i'll call them and have them bring in Orlado Pace and Leigh Bodden for negotiations.
Why do you keep saying "we"? Every post that I have ever read by you regarding the Texans is negative. You are obviously not a fan of the team, so why do you refer to them as "we" when clearly you don't care for the franchise?
Ok. I think he's overpaid. I've been a fan of the team since it got here. I'm just sick and tired of finesse football. I pay for my tickets and buy my gear and all I get is excuses for 4 years while the Saints and Cardinals get to Superbowls. you guys can be happy talking about, "They are doing it the right way" right way? They are a mediocre franchise.
you do realize that the it took the saints 43 years to win a super bowl right? And the Cardinals...i think they won a championship game a couple of years after WW2. Being annoyed is undertandable but it's no reason to dump on everything texans. As for Matt being "overpaid", I think he makes top 10 type money (don't know the exact amount) and that's fair for a top 10 starting qb. So you think the texans could go out and pick up a better or equal qb for less money on the FA market?
I guess you don't remember how bad the Saints and Cards were prior to their SBs. 4 years is NOTHING compared to how long those cities had to wait to even get a winning season. I'm not making excuses because I want to win now just as much as you, but obviously the Texans are doing something right since, well... 2-14 6-10 8-8 8-8 9-7
Saints and Cardinals? That's a bull**** argument. The Saints had TWO winning season's from '93-'08, all in the modern salary cap era. The same goes for the Cardinals. Just because they've had success as of late does not make them model franchises. We've essentially had four seasons since our disastrous start. I know it's hard as a fan to write those years off when it comes to frustration, but that's the way you have to look at it. Last year was definitely a disappointment by all accounts, but in the previous three years we made progress and built the team the right way. There is no doubt this will be a defining year for us and the Kubiak era IMO, but this front office has done reasonably well in the last four years.
