Texans in trade talks for Deebo Samuel

Hard pass. Seems like he is always injured. Also, not trading for someone that we'd have to extend - we already have our own players that we need to pay or eventually pay.

 

I'm not too excited about trading draft capital for another aging and injury prone WR.

With that as a backdrop, Deebo can be a weapon if healthy and someone Caley can deploy in multiple ways and formations.

This feels like we send a 5th in 2025 for Deebo and a 7th in either 2025 or 26 kind of trade. If we do more than that 49ers likely win the trade.

Deebo has the skillset and versatility that would transform our offense.

 

If the contract permits, and it might not be, then a swap of draft picks could make sense. But if they have to release him to avoid a substantial roster bonus, then that would change things. We just need more of the contract details to make a proper evaluation. If it functions like a prove it deal, we've had some success with these for both the club and the players whether they extend or not.
