I was born in Houston but live in the Austin area now, that's why I support the Texans.

Unless you are a die-hard Texan fan, its hard to see why anyone in Austin would want to see a Texan game over a game where Austin's god child is playing in. Its just the reality. People would much rather see Vince play than see the Texans.

Unless you live in Houston, no one in Texas really cares about the Texans. This is not a flame.. its just, "the truth."

You're right...Vince Young was the qb of the national champion Longhorns. He ain't here any more.

I lived in Houston for 20 years and live in Austin now. In fact, I was gone before the Texans started. That doesn't mean s***. Houston is still my home and I still follow the teams. I'm a Dynamo fan, too and they just moved last year. I'll support who I want to support. I don't think it's out of the question to ask that a station a mere 150 miles from the stadium show games of that team over one that's 1000 miles away. I don't care who's playing for them (and I'm a UT fan, too).

Actaully, if the Stars are in the Cup finals, I'll watch because they are a Texas team. Otherwise I don't because I don't like hockey. However, if Houston somehow got a NHL team, I'll follow them...just not nearly as much as I do the Rockets, Texans, Astros, & Dynamo.

I see your point, but not everyone that lives in Austin is from Houston. Its just the way it is, people in Austin want to see Vince Young. He isn't just any other player from UT, its not like they show a bunch of Giants' games so people can see Aaron Ross play. You gotta admit Vince Young was THE man at UT, and people have quite a different interest in his games. People want to see Vince.. and people will watch.. thus getting them better ratings.

The bottom line is the ratings will be better with a Vince game on as opposed to a Texans game.

I believe that was the case last year. I think the VY love fest in Austin is dwindling and that ratings for Titans games will be lower. College towns are conditioned to have short memories. Yes, you remember the good times, but you also quickly move on to the current team. I'd be willing to bet that the ratings will be much closer this year than last year.

I still blame the Texans for this. It's their own damn fault that they don't market here. It makes no sense to just give up the territory to the cowboys. I wonder if they even know this is happening here.

No offense but if you think Austin has forgotten about Vince Young or will ever have a lower interest in him, you're dead wrong. This is the guy who brought UT a championship after 30+ years without one.

If you goto a Lids/Finish Line/Champs in Austin, you'll see more Titans hats available than Texans and Cowboys hats combined.

It's not really marketing. It's more of bandwagon. Once the Texans win, there will be tons of people claiming to be Texan fans. That's just how it is.

There is going to be a freaking holy war on this board between people when the Texans start winning.. brother turning against brother... VY fan against Oiler holdover... Titan fan against Houston native.. my god.. callouts of character and reputation.. the blood bath will be epic.

probably not that many in austin. The texans could win 16 games this year and most of Texas aside from HOuston would probably still be Cowboy country as far as the NFL is concerned. Sad but true.

Not sad to me, I don't give a frog's fat ass. Pull for which ever team you want. Doesn't affect how I feel about the Texans at all.

Yes I did not figure it would, should, or remotely could, which is fine with me.

Now let's play some othello. Minutes to learn, a lifetime to master.

It's going to be ridiculous if both teams meet in the playoffs especially if it's a regular thing.

Titans vs. Texans would be weird the first time just because the Titans are the former Houston franchise but regular season matchups and time have healed wounds.

VY is like pulling off the scab. Son of Houston vs. the Aggies. Bring it!

It happens again this weekend. KEYE went with Titans & Bengals...2 teams on the way down...over Texans & Browns...2 teams on the way up.

    This is so incredibly annoying.

Yeah, I wonder what their (Texans) ratings have looked like in Austin. This is a really strange decision especially since Vince & Co stunk up MNF this week.

Well, the Bengals REALLY suck and the Browns are kind of good. It's not about the best game, it's about who has the best chance to win. And as much as I love the Texans, you have to admit that the Titans stand a better chance at winning this week than the Texans do.

Two thumbs down and two middle fingers up for this post.

The Cowpokes are South Oklahoma's team.
