Can we have a "2006 forum" for this stuff? You can also discuss whether the Battier-Gay trade was a good idea too.
This thread is not about the mistake of drafting Williams, it is about why the Texans are the 2nd choice in Austin, my posts are germaine to that discussion, and pointing out the obvious is apparently necessary. And for the record, I was in favor of the Batter for Gay trade.....just part of being ahead of the curve and a trendsetter, rather than a blind follower. DD
Oh. My. God. They interviewed and quoted Laurie? From Tekgnar (formerly Blondies Skate Shop)? As a life-long devotee to the world of skateboarding, I'm glad to see her get a bit of notice from the (worst print in the State) Statesman. However, they couldn't get the opinion of an owner or manager of a sports bar or something? Seriously? A sports radio personality?
It's really just not worth it to argue with some of you anymore. One last thing, though. When the Oilers left, so did any feelings I had for them. I couldn't f***ing care less about a team in tennessee.
I kind of thought that was weird, too. Why her? You're right about the Statesman though. I don't know what draws me to keep my subscription. I guess it's the need for reading material for my morning constitutional.
Another thread all together, but the Statesman has to be the worst daily newspaper I have ever seen. The Austin unAmerican Spacesman ! I think you need a hug...come here big boy..... DD
Have you seen the San Antonio Express News? It makes the Statesman look like the New York Times. I'll take the incoherent ramblings of the patchouli-smelling Austinites over the Express News any day of the week (and especially on Sunday).
And that's great for you. Unfortunately for you, KEYE isn't your personal TV station and they have an audience across Austin to cater to. And that audience showed last year that it preferred the Titans by leaps and bounds. Until that changes, there's no reason that should change. But I guess if they changed their slogan, all would be well again.
I was responding to DD's comment about still following the Titans when they left Houston. Thanks for playing, though.
sports bar...or Frank's house. his Bears play the late game and he's stated that he's willing to watch the Texans -- until the game gets "out of hand."
1. They shouldn't be advertising to be home of the Texans when they won't show all of their games. 2. Why the hell should Austinites give a crap about the Texans? Do we care about the Dallas Stars just because they're a Texas team? Choices: Vince Young - champion of the best team in Austin vs...... Houston Texans - a team no Austinite has any history with or reason to support.
Jeez folks it's all about RATINGS. Better ratings mean that they (KEYE) can charge advertisers more for commercials which brings in more revenue. After all KEYE is not a charity but is in business to make a profit. I suggest you guys go back to page one of this thread and read KEYE's response to the futants' email where they specifically spell out the ratings numbers for Titans and Texans' games. It would appear that they (KEYE) would like to show the Texans' games but they need for the ratings to justify their doing so and last year the ratings weren't there for Texans games. Now this year it might be different if the Texans do better. For what it's worth, the Texans are just about invisible up here in Dallas as well and they won't be shown on Sunday either - we'll be getting the Dolphins-Redskins game.
