True - but I don't think that's *really* what people are complaining about. If they didn't have the slogan, people would still be complaining that they are showing the Titans over the Texans. Once the Texans are good and start attracting fans, I'm sure they'll start showing more Texans games.
Oh I know, I was joking around. I actually have no problem with them doing that provided you can watch the game at the bar. They absolutely should show the team with the highest ratings. I'm guessing once the Texans start winning, things will change.
yep. and if the Texans showed just a little interest in the Central Texas market that would help as well. They would be wise to learn some marketing skills from the Astros
i didnt know all these YOFers cared so much about the Texans. I mean, they dont even have a Chinese player.
Yeah, it's hilarious since I believe the only three non-Austinites in the thread are msn, DonnyMost and myself. The first one didn't complain, the second one's post looked like it was sarcastic and I said I understood the decision, but that they should drop the slogan.
That I will agree with wholeheartedly. I remember the caravan coming through a few years ago. They had stopped into Dave & Busters for lunch while I was there. They brought Sloan Thomas (who never made the team), the back-up deep snapper (not kidding) and the trainer. Yeah, that's going to attract a crowd. They should have had training camp here in Austin or in San Antonio in year 1. They've been hiding in Houston. I don't get it. They've done a terrible job of marketing outside of greater Houston. That said, who's to say that even the Titans would give KEYE their highest ratings? Maybe (since they have to show AFC games) they go with the Patriots or the Colts? Why not rotate it if it's a ratings thing? Because Austin is outside of the zone for Dallas & Houston, they aren't forced to show any game. It's because it is a Vince thing and, most likely, there are execs and a program director there that are UT alum.
It gets worse Austin Texans fans... What I actually read was, "We'll show the Texans when the Titans are on at night on a bye, or when they're playing the Titans." I'll be checking the ratings on Monday as well...anyone know how to do that? I was planning on checking the Texans ratings in San Antonio for a reference. Oh, Mr. Vinson is going to be hearing from me a lot this season should this continue. Disclaimer: tinman, if you've got nothing to say that doesn't involve your fettish for VY, please keep it to yourself for once. We get the point...You're dreaming of the day when you, VY, and Vernon Maxwell can finally come public with your love triangle.
If they drafted Vince Young, none of this would be happening. The station is trying to make money, they will show the game that the MAJORITY....of Austinites want to see..... That is the Titans game, I guess those people who want to see Texan's games, and that includes me, can get Direct TV and watch all the games. If the Texans do well, and the Titans flag, they will flip, maybe. People love Vince in Austin, and for good reason....the Titans have a lot of reasons to root for them, they have the most dynamic young talent in the league in Vince and a proven head coach....and in Austin, Bud Adams is not hated... I will watch whatever game they show, it is just business. Yes, you were complaining, what is so confusing..... DD
We get it already. We get it already. We get it already. Then they need to quit calling themselves "Austin's home for the Texans." It's not an "if". It's a "when". Yes, people love Vince in Austin. However, this is a college town. College towns have short memories. The love fest from the NC is over. Most here are back into reality (just listen to 1300 and 1530 this week). I guarantee you that viewership for Titans games will go down this season, especially as the Titans are exposed for the s*** team they are. Good for you. I want to watch my team that happens to be from a mere 150 miles away...not the one 1000 miles away...and I definitely will not be watching KEYE. Seriously, it's old and tired. I typically like your posts. This crap is getting so old, I'd rather hear about tinman's wishes to be abused by Vernon.
Why do you care so much what they call themselves? If they did that, you'd suddenly be fine? If you agree, then what's the problem? Maybe. They'll find out and they'll adjust as necessary. The Titans were viewed more than twice as much as the Texans last year, so they have a long way to go. Why do you have a problem with them experimenting to see which team is more popular in Austin?
oh come on, the ONLY reason Austinites want to see the Titans is b/c of Young. and as well they should. but if the Titans are sucking it up, the novelty of Young will wear off.
Great, then I won't have to hear any more questions about why K-eye is showing the more popular team, since....you get it already. But they are Austin's home for the Texans, just not every week. I hope you are right. LOL - it is hardly over, they have just been focusing on the Longhorns, if Vince does his normal spectacular stuff, they will still talk about him. I don't know if the Titans are crappy or not, but I would guess the Titans and Texans are about equal going into the season. Yes you will, when they show the Texans you will be glued to K-eye and watching, just as I will be. And whether your team is 1000 miles or 150, it is still your team....my team was the Oilers, and so I have ties to the Titans....STILL. What is getting old, having to explain to people that don't get it, why K-eye is doing what it is doing? Sure, you may get it, but apparently a lot of other people don't understand.....clearly. Here is to hoping that Schaub is the real deal, but if both teams are about the same in the standings, I don't see it changing any time soon....Sports bars will have the Texans though, so you should be able to see them....
