Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner. Will they turn this over to the treasury, or bury it under their own tent?
Matt Schaub may look to be the second coming of Joe Montana, but if Petey Faggins plays next Sunday the way he played yesterday, it's going to be a long day. I'd hate to see what Reggie Wayne does to him. Maybe we need to start McCleon or something. He looked completely helpless against Steve Smith.
i can't imagine it's going to be much worse than what steve did to him yesterday. it would be great to have another corner, though.
Petey stripped Goings of the football on the kickoff which led to the touchdown recovery and six points by Kevin Walter. Huge play by Faggins.
I'm I the only one that has us at 7-2 going into the bye week? Im don't want to seem like I'm getting ahead of myself, but besides Indy, who on there do we not have a relistic shot of beating??
We have a realistic shot at every game before the bye week to be honest and even an outside shot against Indy. I just looked over the schedule and have us pegged at 5-4 going into the bye week with losses at OAK, at JAX, at SD, and home for Indy. I have us finishing on a 3-4 run though with the wins coming home for JAX, at CLE, and home for TB. 8-8. I could easily see 9-7,10-6 or even 7-9, 6-10 to be honest.
You don't see us beating Oakland or Jacksonville?? We beat both of those teams last year before all the upgrades. Hell, even the Chargers have looked pretty ordinary under Norv Turner so far, allbeit against 2 good teams.
IF we can play like this all the time we will be in the playoffs for sure. IF NOT we will be .500 for the season The Texans are good, the real test will be vs. the colts.
It wasn't really a matter of "do I think we can win this game" it was me looking at it and trying to account for things happening. We aren't a graet team so I don't expect us to win all of the "should win" games on the schedule. Also, going into Oakland is a tough game.
Better than I thought. I have always liked their uniforms, but they actually look like a football team for the first time. The defense might "take off." The offense looks good, but not dominating, but that is a ton of improvement over the last several years. This might be the first winning season. If they beat the Colts, everybody will go nuts and start talking Super Bowl.
Run defense is stout. Ryans behind a stud gap filling crew should really make things tough on teams that rely on their ground game. Pass defense is an Achilles heel. Line pushes the pocket, but isn't the greatest at pressuring. Dunta is on an island. Smith's philosophy of keeping everyone on a particular side makes it easy for teams to slot their stud receiver away from Robinson. Faggins can be burned, and this happened not just yesterday but several times last year (Stallworth, Evans). This can really be exploited. Offense is balanced, sharp, poised, and focused. Everyone but Andre is limited as far as talent, but chemistry, smarts and discipline more than make up for that. We can dink and dunk instead of Carrball's dink dink dink. Special Teams has been solid and frisky. We haven't shown we're elite yet, or even a playoff team, but we're moving in the right direction. 8 wins should be expected, 9 a good goal, and 10 worth dreaming about. Considering how many of our remaining opponents are passing-challenged, we should be feeling good. Evan
Are the Texans for real? Allen: It's definitely too early to say the Texans are for real, but they do look good out there. They have shown a propensity to make big plays and Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson look like they have been playing together all their lives. They are quickly becoming an elite tandem. Theismann: Yes, I felt this way before the season. This league is all about quarterbacking and they have one they can count on now in Matt Schaub. The foundation has finally been built; they have a quarterback who can make plays and give them a chance to win. Gary Kubiak has created an attitude that has this team believing it can win. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3023887 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Texans also got MAJOR props from an online chat on ESPN with some analyst today. And Foxsports.
Here's to Andre Davis; may you reap the benefits of two touchdowns while Andre Johnson is out... DO IT!
