Well yeah of course talent matters. Shanahan also has Kittles/McCaffrey/Samuels/Aiyuk as established threats in his offense, that helps his scheme look good too. I'd be happy with either the Bengals or 9ers system, they'd both be massive improvements in playcalling over what we've seen over the last 4 head coaches.
Agree, but I dont think the Bengals make it to a conference final with a 3rd string qb without Burrow. All im saying is that there is a lot more options with a shanahan/kubiak offense to help a young qb or any qb succeed than go through all the progressions Burrow does in that offense. Hell, weve seen it this year with Kyle and weve seen it before when we had to run out TJ Yates.
So it seems like all of that ignorant BS talk about how the Texans were racist for firing grossly incompetent coaches kind of aged poorly. Poor Stephen A Smith.
Ah, yes. DeMeco has only been a DC for 2 years so he needs an “experienced” GM who has been a GM for…2 years? ICaserio said something about DeMeco’s quality of being collaborative. Combined with the McClain company line tweet I worry for Ryans that they will try to use inexperience as an excuse to meddle with his staff hiring or team/game decision making.
Just because they made the right decision here doesn’t mean they haven’t been grossly incompetent and racist in the past
Yeah at this point everyone is really trying to keep the past in the past and move forward with making smarter and just overall better decisions to improve the team.
End of the day….they got the apex candidate of this years available coaches and didn't have to give up picks to get him. This candidate will also help them shake the perception thats out there and get FA’s to hopefully flock to Houston wanting to play. It’s a win/win for everyone (fans included).
The Texans actually made the right move for once. Now let’s have a good offseason and get this train back on the track.
Wilson just posted another story that said Texans really wanted Kocurek as DC but 9ers are likely keeping him by giving him a promotion to an associate head coach type title with a raise. Would love to pick up some of that tree on offense though. Slowik, Kubiak, the Bengals guy, etc. Defensive coordinator I'm less worried about as long as they actually hire one.
