Let's hope this guy has better ideas than "trail on the inside hip when they run sideline routes with 50 seconds to go and no TOs" or "always bat the ball randomly, even if you have a clean easy INT in the endzone"
Tsunami splash. Does this mean nate clements becomes a texan on the cheap? I'll take a declining nate over anything on the roster.
I'm sure John McClain thinks this is a great hire just like he went on and on about Frank Bush being a great hire and Bill Kollar being a great hire. Who can forget John McClain going on and on about how amazing the coaching staff was that Kubiak put together with all of their superbowl rings as assistants. Now he echoes McNair about past hires vs Wade. Sigh.
DB Coach: Wyoming Cowboys (2002) Colorado Buffaloes (2002–2003) Bowling Green Falcons (2004) San Francisco 49ers (2005–present) At least he's not a Broncos cast-off, he's an outsider, which we don't have nearly enough of it seems. 49ers Pass D Ranks: 2005 - 32nd 2006 - 26th 2007 - 22nd 2008 - 20th 2009 - 21st 2010 - 24th
I don't know anything about this guy and I won't pretend to, but he is coming from a bad pass defense team that signed a big time free agent who regressed terribly for them. Not thrilling. But, it is what it is, and position coaches are at even greater mercy of the players they have then a coordinator.
I wonder if Bob told him that to get the job he had to agree to take the blame for whatever bad personnel decisions they make the next few years so he doesn't have to fire his coach or GM.
Texans Pass D Ranks: 2005 - 24th 2006 - 22nd 2007 - 25th 2008 - 17th 2009 - 18th 2010 - 32nd We're on the right track.
Very nice! LOL But seriously, I would never take a position coach job with this team if I could get work elsewhere after Bob McNair blamed his position coaches for the personnel decisions that hurt the team. You are a sacrificial lamb to protect Kubiak and Smith.
