Wow. Ross Tucker from Sporting News is NOT a fan of the hire: http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/sto...ton-texans-penn-state-nfl-coaches-gary-kubiak Here is some key parts:
What I like least about the hire is that O'Brien is ugly. A handsome coach with a good head of hair, that's what I want. I'm somewhat serious. http://www.cnbc.com/id/101292577#!
They're not all going to be fans and you never know of certain media guys biases towards certain coaches. Maybe he's buddies with Wisenhunt or maybe O'Brien told Tucker to **** off for an interview once. All I know is that a lot of people had O'Brien as probably the hottest coaching candidate before he was even interviewed by the Texans.
What a load of crap. I applaud bob for once, not going with the obvious retread guy in wisenhunt, I wanted him nowhere near this team
Problem with that is that Whisenhunt could theoretically be unavailable for several more weeks. Do you wait to find on him while letting your other top candidate(s) get hired away? And what happens if you end up not liking him after the interview?
Did you read the article??? He really likes BOB. The article hates on the hiring PROCESS. I say who cares about how you got your coach as long as it's the coach you wanted.
I'm guessing you didn't read the article. As a former Penn State season-ticket holder and lifelong Pennsylvania resident, I follow the Penn State program pretty closely and think it may be time for someone to pump the brakes a little bit on the Texans' celebration and separate fact from fiction. I'm sure him being upset that O'Brien(as a Penn St. fan) is leaving has alot to do with this article.
He's definitely not ugly. Seems handsome for a man his age. Full head of hair. You can be ugly and win (Bowden, Pop, etc) it just seems harder. Carrol, Pitino, Calipari, Mack Brown, Saban, Harbaugh(s) - chicks dig these guys right?

Bill O'Brien would be well-served to never go 2-14, apparently that is McNair's breaking point! Going 2-14 and getting the number one overall pick = you're fired!
It is comforting to know that he sees the same things we see while watching the Texans (inability to adjust, etc.). The one thing about depth kinda speaks more to the GM than the coaching though, right?
I'm getting the feeling from the presser the Kubes could not under any circumstances change his game plan from the standard and that pissed Bob and Rick off.
i really would like to know how much input Kubes had on the player selection. With that being said, Smith does come off as a major kiss ass and seems well versed in deflection.
