Acquired for a 3rd rounder, then got severely underutilized in the passing game, then was forced to be a RB on the team because David Johnson is so bad, then got hurt, then got released. So just about as successful as any player that the Texans acquire.
Rumor: Duke was overheard screaming "god damn" when he stubbed his toe in the locker room and that was why he was cut. /S
$0 in dead money, $5,025,000 in cap savings. Texans now $11,219,133 under the cap. Cooks is also cap saving candidate. Cooks has $0 dead money and would produce a $12,000,000 cap saving. Also depending on what happens with Deshaun, there's a good chance if Deshaun is traded Tunsil will be traded (post June 1) to produce $16,150,000 in cap savings.
Free agency starts March 17. Texans now $11,219,133 under the cap. Cooks has $0 dead money and would produce a $12,000,000 cap savings if cut. That would bring the Texans $23,219,133 under the cap.
I understood the math the first time. I dont believe they will flat out cut him. Maybe he reworks his deal if he wants to stay here and suck with the rest of the church group. Getting cut would probably be better for his career anyway. He's good at praying though so I dont know if the team can part ways with him - he might be worth the contract to them.
I don't know if I should be surprised or not that more people aren't happier about this. The David Duke backfield has been disbanded and during black history month no less. More Glory
It's astonishing that an organization worth billions of dollars can be so abysmal at their core "competency."
I didn't include Cooks in my cleansing because he is both a Caserio and Jack guy and cheap for a non rookie contract catching 1,200 yards, these days. Plus, you need apostles spreading the word in the locker room. . Cooks though for his own good, should ask for a trade. He's talented with a great qb. Ooops.
I think Cooks will be kept as-is. He would save us a lot of money but whoever our QB is will need someone to throw to and don't see the Texans shelling out for a top WR at this point. As for Tunsil, only way I'm trading him is if they think Howard is ready to make the move over.
If Deshaun is gone, no need to keep the big money wr imo. Depending on who the trade partner is the Texans might be able to get a good wr in the second or third round. Cobb, Keke, Colter and Hansen already on the roster, plus the tight ends, might as well free up the money to go get some help on defense
