Do the Texans NEED Vince? No. From day one, they've wanted to make this team a defensive one. Would I be a Texans fan if Vince was on the team? Yeah, at least moreso than now. I root for the Texans because I don't want them to embarrass my hometown. They're the home team. But I'm an Eagles fan. VY just... does something to people. People who never cared about football suddenly start caring. Hell, he had my mom and one of my sisters watching Texas games (and my sister went to A&M).
But even with VY, Eagles > Texans. It'd just be the same thing from back when the Oilers were here -- I'd say "Yay yay! Go Oilers!" when they weren't facing Philly.

For those who don't know, my dad grew up in south Philly. That had a SLIGHT effect on which NFL team we watched growing up.

Pitts, Weary and Wand all were first day picks. It might not have worked, but they tried.

Forget about first day picks... what about first and second round picks? Pitts was the only one.

Meanwhile, they trade multiple picks for Jason Babin, the douchebag from Oakland, and they trade down to get Travis Johnson because no O-lineman seems "desireable" enough.

But you were praising Kubiak and Co. for trying to build the line with 2 third round picks, not first and second rounders. And Travis Johnson has looked good this season.

I said it was a start... and two HIGH 3rd round picks, and decent OL prospects, seem like gems compared to the other guys they were picking up.

That sort of mindset should have been taking place far before, even at the expense of other "skill" positions.

Travis Johnson has been fine... but he certainly wasn't good enough for them to avoid taking ANOTHER DT with a 10th pick.

If you look at the turnaround the Browns offense has undergone this year, it all starts with adding Eric Steinbech, Seth McKinney and Joe Thomas. They invested a lot of money on their line and it is opening it up for the skill position guys. The Texans will have some cap money next year, so maybe they can get better.

    Wow, that's really interesting.

Anyway, I'd go with another CB, then some more O linemen. We can address the LB's via free agency.

^^^ sorry i meant quarterback play

zero td's in the last three games for him, 5 td's for the whole season, rosenfels has 4, this team is still far from great but they are better than last year, this team would have shriveled up last year

Schaub is a good QB. But i'm going to make a comparison to that team I hate from dallas.
Back in the 90s, what made the team so good was their offensive line. troy aikman was a pretty mediocre quarterback until he got behind that line. jimmy johnson even said aikman would never amount to anything at one point. emmit smith also was a pretty mediocre back. But ANYONE could have run behind that offensive line.

That takes us to now. The Texans need an offensive line. This has been a major problem with this team for years. It goes beyond the QB. Despite his mobility, I don't even know if VY could've been effective behind this line. You need guys to protect the QB and create holes for the backs to run through. And if you can't tell by the big hits put on Schaub or the pathetic running of the Texans, they don't have it.

And while I'm at it, the OL is not the reason Carr was such a lemon (pun intended). Carr just doesn't make good choices quickly. He stands still.

    LT
CB of the shut down variety, ie better than Robinson.
    LG
    OLB
    C
    RT
    RG

Good news is that CB Fred Bennett is a rookie CB who could upgrade the CB position by the end of season.

Left Tackle, Center, Running Back, Cornerback, 2 Safties, OS Linebacker, Defensive End

In no particular order if you get a great one... but

    #1- left tackle
    #2- running back
    #3- pass rushing DE
    #4- cornerback
    #5- free safety
    #6- center
    #7- OS Linebacker
    #8- strong safety

There is the order of greatest need and these are players we really need badly.

We are just 8 players away from being a playoff contender (and I predicted 10-6; was I ever wrong!)

The Texans' greatest need right now is patience. Continue to stay focused and have solid drafts and not pull a Casserly and blow your load on Jason Babin again.
