I know, we can trade our original picks. I don't think they should move up in the first. I think they should move up in the second. There is a lot of value in the second. A third and seven for a second and lower seven sounds like a deal they should look for

Our 3rd round pick is #89 overall and the first compensatory pick is #95. So yeah, you can trade your 3rd to move up and it's almost like you still have your original pick.

Sure, all for something along those lines.

I'll say purely from an FYI slant that you probably won't get your 3rd up to a 2nd with only a 7th swap as a sweetner, especially since our picks are late rounders.

There are other draft pick value charts/calculators out there, they in no way promise you a deal, but give you a basic sense on what frameworks would need to be. Without offering a future 3rd rounder, the Texans could probably only hope to move higher in the third rather than jump all the way from low 3rd to low 2nd. Day 3 picks hold extremely little value. Every round, the pick values basically chop in half.

But you never know. Some GM may be so in love with the idea of trading back that he'd love being showered with extra picks.

I could be wrong but I don't see us moving up Rick has rarely done it the only one that comes to mind is the Brandon Harris trade up (score). More typical seeing us move back to gather up some extras in the second/third rd.

True, if anything I see the texans trading their first rounder back to the early second and maybe picking up an extra 3rd.

The thing is that we need quality more than quantity. We are better off packaging multiple mid-round picks to move up into the 2nd round than take "project" type players with those mid-round picks.
Moving up is not the Texans M.O. though.

I don't think that will ever be the Texans strategy under Rick though he is going to search for value and he isn't going to overpay to move up in the draft. The draft that we essentially got a free 3rd rounder and can trade our pick and only lose 6 spots while moving up by trading a 3 and something might be worth depending on who's there.
