Agree. This is weak WR class for RD1. I'd look at who's around in 3rd-4th rd. Also, I think we're not really factoring in a healthy Metchie. Cas says he looks better now than when he was drafted. From watching BY highlights, Metchie looks like a stud.
Taking Metchie out, that's a good battle for 3rd and 4th receiver. 1. Not on the roster since Cooks wants out. 2. John Metchie emerges as the 2nd Wr 3. Robert Woods 4. Nico until Nico gets hurt and Noah replaces him.
Think the weak WR draft class means we might be able to get more for Cooks than we might have thought otherwise?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! That was a bargain. Bradbury or Brendel should have been signed yesterday. But hey we get some training camp cannon fodder instead, nice! How can you say no to that.
I doubt it, but we could also keep him. That would give our new qb a pretty good wr staff. If we can get a legit center and TE with our 2nd round pick we could seriously be in contention for the AFC South. I’m resigned to us taking qb at 1.2. I would be thrilled if we could get Carter at 1.12 or another good DL and Achane with one of our 3rd round picks. If BY or Stroud is the real deal that is a really exciting Offense.
Looking at Centers available... https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/all/center/all/ https://www.sportskeeda.com/nfl/nfl-s-top-10-centers-2022-season#:~:text=Corey Linsley spent the first, over the last few years. Maybe we do sign Ben Jones and draft a C/G also? We could also wait to see if IND cuts Ryan Kelly. Center market seems to be hot! UPDATE: Jones failed his physical, so included available FA above.
Running out of Center options. I think Center and QB were our weakest positions. I don’t see much of an opportunity to improve there. No competent center would really dampen our ability to at least threaten in the weak ass South.
Mam! Hate seeing both Bradbury and Brendel off the market. I'd spend a 3rd on Joe Tippman (OC) in the draft now. Please, no jokes about a 6'6" center and a 5"10.5" QB!
I would've easily paid that for Bradbury. After trading for Mason it became apparent to me that Ryans/Caserio are going to draft their center of the future. I'm hoping for Schmitz, but think either Tippman or Wypler will be next years center. I could also see bringing in Brunskill as a FA in addition to drafting a center.
I respect Caserio for staying disciplined… Maybe Quessenberry fits the OL scheme better in 2023 than 2022. Maybe they know they will get someone in day 2. I still prefer this approach to FA over the horrible contracts O’Brien gave out.
At some point Nick Caserio is going to be forced to give out a contract longer than two years. He might spontaneously combust.
