Man at this point if there out there interview Minnesota's equipment manager, why hasn't Doug Pedersen gotten a phone call?
If the offense sucked, but CJ looked as good as he could with no OL and WR injuries and bad playcalling then I would say get rid of Slowik and bring in Jerrod. but CJ ALSO took a step back. We fired Slowik for his backpedaling offensive failures, but Jerrod, whose only job was CJ who also went backwards, gets a promotion???
I'm hoping Jerrod expressed his concerns privately while still respecting Slowik's role. Rather than undermining him, he may have stuck to executing Slowik's philosophy to the best of his ability, not wanting to be seen as contributing to his failure.
I could be mistaken but I think him being able to call plays here counts as a promotion since he doesn’t in Green Bay.
First, giggity. Second, Elgton Jenkins, Zach Tom, Sean Rhyan, and Jacob Monk are all athletic as well as a great start for an OL.
He was an OL here around 09 so he may have had some coaching from Alex Gibbs. Either way, I suspect he would be able to come in and really get this system running how it's supposed to. Texans wouldn't have to change up everything either. Pretty smooth transition. I think this might be who I'm leaning towards...
Seems like a great OL coach, but the offense is designed, ran, and called by Matt LaFleur. I'm very nervous about a guy that has never called plays, this could end up in a Nathaniel Hackett type of disaster. My peepee is not tingling on this one but I think he'd massively improve the offensive line performance and tight ends blocking fwiw
Also... if he was "promoted" to OL / run game coordinator with play calling abilities, I believe that is a "promotion" as well. Could always go with Asst HC / OL - that is def a promotion
Well it could have been connected to a recruiting visit or maybe he met with DeMeco on the downlow to not screw with OSU's recruiting season. Which was it?
Traditionally, those interviewing for promotions are granted permission to do so. But technically, anyone under contract needs to get permission or face the penalty for tampering. Permission solves everything. When it is unclear whether the job is a promotion or not becomes unclear are cases involving different duties for the same title like an OC who doesn't call plays interviewing for an OC who would call plays or even an asst Head coach who doesn't call plays interviewing for an OC which would. This could get tricky.
