Well, I can't say that this is a bad move. I guess that Orlovsky has some competition for that backup spot now. Brink's days as a Texan are probably done, tho.

If you think a guy with a 92.7 QB rating (7th in the entire NFL) who is top five in yards per attempt and completion percentage sucks, you need to put down the pipe during the games...

Matt Schaub is a good to very good starting quarterback. The idea that he's even mediocre, much less "crappy" or "sucks", is beyond ludicrous, and is roughly equivalent to saying Luis Scola sucks. That's the problem people had with your post, not the part about Grossman.

If you are this ignorant, why even comment in the thread? One of the reasons I stay out of soccer/hockey threads...

    Dude, seriously...

The kid doesn't know anything about the NFL, he was just trying to make conversation.

Anyhoo, I'm much looking forward to the Texans-Raiders matchup on October 4th.

This game will feature the best CB in the league vs arguably the best WR in the league (for my money Larry Fitzgerald is #1, but AJ is pretty damn close).

Last season the battle was clearly won by Nnamdi, as AJ had one of his most forgettable games of his stellar season.

I'll be at the game with my #21 jersey on, probably going to get lynched. Should be a great time.

I can't believe anyone is STILL saying stuff like this.

You could argue (though I disagree) that Schaub is injury-prone.

You could not argue "that schaub is not that much better than sage". He is.

people can be unlucky. he hasn't had the same injuries consistently, and things like the flu and stuff don't count in my book towards that label.

i'm willing to give him this year to prove that he's durable

i love larry and have since pitt...i remember people knocking his speed and saying he wouldnt be a top tier pro WR

Larry had a real coming out party in the playoffs and his stock is high

but Larry has also benefited from some good counter parts. A luxury that AJ hasnt really had.

and yes the oakland game was bad...people have bad games.

not a bad thing, good insurance...now, if he has to start because of an injury, which is likely, then maybe we'll catch some breaks...not likely, but maybe...

People have bad games when they face Nnamdi Asomugha.

Like I said, Fitzgerald vs Johnson is a tough one, and if I had to chose one I might even pick Andre, but that being said...

Larry Fitzgerald's postseason was legendary, Jerry Rice status. He abused CBs like nobody has in a long time.

That is what puts him #1 in terms of "best receiver" Consistent every week, runs crisp routes and makes the catches that move the chains. Johnson is probably a better receiver in terms of pure athleticism and talent, but until he shows what he can do on the big stage, I'm going to go with Larry Fitz by default.

Both are pretty likable guys who let their play do the talking, not primma donnas either.

I wouldn't worry too much about a lynching. This IS Houston, after all. You'll probably just hear it from the crowd a little bit. But if Pee Wee Herman has taught me anything, it's that if you are in Texas and you scream out, "The stars at night, are big and bright" *clap clap clap clap*, not only will everyone in earshot finish the line, but they will also automatically love you for it.

Hard to argue against Fitzgerald right now with his postseason work this last year. But that's off topic. I'm with the people that believe that Grossman is training camp fodder. I can't see Kubiak preferring a QB like him for backup over a guy like Orlovsky. Orlovsky is exactly the kind of QB that could blossom into a decent backup. He was stuck in Detroit during the worst season, though he was far from the biggest reason for it. And he had that one really bad, really noticeable play stepping out of the end zone. Each are reasons fans can get really down on a player, but neither are that indicative of the kind of player he can become. I see Kubiak trying to work his magic on this guy. There will be no magic worked on Grossman.

I look forward to seeing you with your black and white face paint with spiky shoulder pads, moes.

I don't know if I want to disclose too much about what I'm going to look like, wouldn't want your dad to hunt me down. ;)

I was sitting near the end zone when I went with Miggy to the Monday Night Football game last season and there was a guy sitting in the stands wearing a Curtis Martin Jets jersey and people were just kind of like wtf? Its a Jaguars-Texans game and this dude is wearing a Jets jersey of a player who has been out of the league for like 5 years. He got a few heckles from some of the rowdier fans.

Anyway I'll let you guys get back to your Grossman talk.

true, but andre hasnt had a chance to do it on the "big stage" either. nor did he have a probowler easing the pressure. ;) it's amazing how much defenses shade to andre. You can't go wrong with either and both a great people. I just have to cheer for Andre because i think he is so underappreciated outside of houston. People don't understand what an amazing talent he is.

    Grossman: cheap insurance. why not?

I do like orlovsky though and think he can be more than servicable.

Same thing happened at a Rockets game. Saw a dude with a Mavs jersey on at Game 2 of the Jazz-Rockets series two postseasons ago.

What the fudge, man!? Wanted to slap the fool.

I feel the same way about Asomugha, he's a truly incredible player. He was thrown at 35 times all of last season and allowed 0 touchdowns. He's only now finally starting to get his due. Very likable, he reminds of Shane Battier in the way he drops big words and is an elite defender.

Proof that after a really dumb initial post, it's always best to just slowly back away from the thread... :p ;)
