This would be a dream come true, but sadly I will veer to pessimistic on this, no way the Raiders fall for this. I wont complain though if it does. :D Carr goes from one team that largely could not protect him to another team with pass protection issues?

Chicago Bears might be a situation where he could excel.

That mock draft was pretty good with the Texans picking the rb from cal at 6.There is only one problem they have the 8th pick,I may be mistaken but I don't think you are allowed to draft until its your turn. Their 1st round picks haven't been the greatest but compared to rounds 2-4 they were great. Thats where the dip**** former gm screwed this team up.

Lynch will be there at #8, so if we want him, he'll be available.

If you are talking about Notre Dame's big possession receiver, I disagree completely. He doesn't belong in a Texans Draft Pick thread, because they don't need a possession receiver, but he's big, strong, has great hands, and runs great routes. He's not overrated at all.

I would be surprised if Rufus is around in the 2nd round, shocked if he was a 3rd rounder.

When the cites posted by others in this thread project him as a 1st round pick--and ahead of Dwayne Jarrett (who I have never seen even excellent defenses shut down, unlike JS) and Sidney Rice, yes I think he is quite overrated. I think he has a chance to be be an NFL 2nd or 3rd possession type WR, but I see him as a late 2nd or later pick.

Where is the Harris kid (DT) from Florida who wreaked so much havoc last night expected to go? The one who lined up at Nose Tackle in the 3-3-5? He wasn't on my radar, but he's a playmaker. He may not eat the blocks that Branch does, but he releases much better.

    I agree.

We need the best player available in the first, simply put. At pick number 8, that player will not be Brady Quinn - regardless of what number he is drafted at.

I'm hearing alot of interest in Marshawn Lynch and Adrian Peterson, and as much as I may agree or disagree with you, I think it would be foolish to think that this coaching staff/GM (all imported from the Broncos) would draft a running back in the first round. Kubiak's offense has never taken a running back in the first round. What I would like to see is Kubiak draft an RB in the second or third round. Last two second-round RB's Kubiak had were named Clinton Portis and Tatum Bell...

i predict that we'll trade down and get some much-needed OL help.

A lot of people say that Kubiak wont take a running back in the first round because of the system. I dont think the Texans have that luxury because of the lack of talent on the roster. If they choose to draft another position then ok, but Kubiak said they needed playmakers.

The kind of playmaker I want is a DT who can on a regular basis shove a 350 lb. OG into the QB as the QB attempts to hand the ball off.

The thing that frustrates me is that after drafting Mario, spending 3 first round picks on D lineman we still need a pass rusher and a DT.

Seth Payne was on 610 this morning saying the same thing. He said in our defensive scheme, they ask the DT's to get 4 yards in the backfield and make the RB make a decision....at which point, he will get the snot knocked out of him by Demeco Ryans. That's the plan, anyway.

Agree with that except the Mario part. Mario IS a pass rusher but if he's the only pass rusher on the D-line, he's going to get double teamed (5 O-lineman + 4 D-lineman = one D-lineman getting double teamed). Also, a good DT would free him up to rush the passer without having to play the run as much, which takes away a pass rusher's aggressiveness.

Exactly, we've invested so much into the DL and it's still not anywhere complete. I think we need to keep investing into it until we get what can be a stud DL. Putting guys like Travis Johnson, Maddox, Killings, etc...next to Mario isn't going to help. Teams will go ahead a double, triple team Mario because the other DL aren't going to beat you by themselves.

Putting a stud DT like Branch next to Mario won't only make the DL that much better, it could potentially help Mario more than anyone else.

Branch from what I have seen is more a hold-his-position DT versus a penetrate DT. USC also singled team Branch without penalty.

And he didn't release well. He typically ate a lot of blocks, and probably would in the NFL, but he's still overrated. He's not a top-10 pick type of DT.

Pity for the Texans if branch is the best DT in the draft. If so, it might be time to get a shut-down corner.
