Not an authority, but Jemarcus seems like the bigger prospect (pre-Rose Bowl), but I'm not sure in the long run he'll be better than Young.

Young blew me away this year. Props to all the Longhorn homers--he *was* the real deal.

Jamarcus is better with every single tool. He's bigger. He's at least as good a runner. He's a much, much better vertical passer. (I mean, have you ever seen so many dead-on 50+ yard passes?) What Vince has on Jamarcus is "IT". (Not that Jamarcus doesn't have "IT", but Vince has more of "IT".) And I'm not sure what "IT" is worth in a prospect.

    I agree
Russell has a gun for an arm but I think there are thoughts that he might have a lazy work ethic. just something I heard.
Of course I would take VY over Russell any day.

He is not even close to Vince in that capacity. Again, NOT EVEN CLOSE. That's an insult to VY's ability to even think about that let alone suggesting as much. Russell does have probably the best arm in football (both NCAA & NFL) though. As far as Jamarcus as a prospect, I'd still be a little on egde though as he hasn't proven anything for a sustained period. He split time much of last year and didn't even start in LSU's bowl last year.

i was about to post the same thing; he's actually rather slow, somewhat lumbering - a bit leftwich-esque, in that regard.

he'd be raw, raw, raw, but i can't imagine why ANYONE would pick brady quinn over him - i don't get the fascination with BQ at all - looks like the college version of david carr but with less speed and a weaker arm; what am i missing?

That means he's a perfect pick for the Raiders...

I've been on the JaMarcus bandwagon for a month or so now, and he is a pretty lumbering runner. What he does have is that size, though, and decent speed, so it's good enough.

    And his arm is unbelievable.

In a way, it's almost dissapointing that he played so well last night...I was thinking maybe if BQ did well, and Brian Brohm did well, he might slip to the Texans. Doesn't seem likely now, though.

From what little I have seen, Quinn has NFL BUST written all over him. And Russell outplayed Quinn in the Sugar Bowl ...

I just have the sick feeling that the Texans will take Brady Quinn. I think that would officially kill me as a fan of them if they do

There is no way Brady Quinn falls to 8.

I feel the exact same way about Quinn. He faced two good defenses this year and looked bad against both. I would not bet the farm on Brady Quinn.

Reading between the lines, we would have to trade up to get Buster Quinn.

But some team certainly will waste a top 15 pick on him ... which is a good thing for the Texans :)

I think you are going to be really surprised when Jamarcus's 40-yard time comes out of the camps. Vince Young has the uncanny ability to know the exact moment to start his run, so he looks faster than he is. Vince is better at making defenders miss, but Jamarcus is even harder to tackle (as insane as that sounds).

Jamarcus runs a 4.85 40, not bad at all considering he's 250 lbs.
During the Sugar Bowl they said Jamarcus could throw 40 yards sitting down on his butt. INSANE!

That kind of ability could come in handy with our offensive line...

Me too. I'm affraid he could fall like Matt Leinart did. I just hope the Texans are smart enough not to draft him.

I hadn't seen Russell play until last night but I can't remember any quarterback with an arm like that. He's got a quick, high release too. I can't help but think that some of the bad decisions he made on throws last night were because he's so confident in his arm which I don't consider to be nearly as bad a thing as someone just making mistakes because he doesn't know better, ala Carr. I can't imagine he's there at 8 but damn he'd look good in Houston.

It'd be nice if Russell lost 15 pounds or so though. Hopefully that's just a college baby fat kind of thing and not a lack of work ethic kind of thing.
