Levi Brown is a bad fit. Picking him is picking a 1st round LT for the sake of picking a 1st round LT. He's too big and slow for a Kubiak tackle. He's a good tackle for locking up a bull-rusher, not for zone blocking. Kubiak would move Brown to Guard, and the #8 pick is too high for a guard.
i can't imagine Levi going that high. i haven't seen him that high on any of the other mock boards. in fact, i've heard some say we should trade down and take him. my bet is that if AP is gone, we take another DE to bookend with mario. i'd be fine with that. i'd also be fine with secondary help.
Good assessment Adams Anderson Landry A Peterson one of these would be there. they need to really do their homework one of these players could really be a difference maker.
I say DT or secondary. Weaver wasn't bad this year. We need someone in the middle that can take some pressure off of Mario.

This is a pretty good sight in my opinion with a lot of good info. http://www.fantasyfootballjungle.com/y/nfl-draft/teams/index.php?steam=Hou
LOL. That dude sounds pretty good. I've always felt that if he were put in the right situation and given the carries, he would produce. He's not spectacular but he's a load and he gets better with more carries. "The Great Dayne"
Of course the following might be more smoke, but John McClain does, in spite of all of his faults, seem to be pretty well connected, and there seems to be a strong desire to get Peterson around here, so I thought this was worth posting: From McClain's blog: [rquoter] Someone well-connected with the Browns has convinced me that they want Adrian Peterson desperately, which depresses me. I was hoping the Oklahoma running back might slip through the cracks and fall to the eighth spot so the Texans could get him, but now I don't think so. Here's what has to happen: If JaMarcus Russell ends up going first to the Raiders, Brady Quinn has to impress the scouts so much before the draft that the Browns just have to have him. Quinn is from Columbus, Ohio, and makes no secret of his desire to play for the Browns. If you're like me and you want the Texans to be able to draft Peterson, you need for the first three picks to be Russell, Wisconsin tackle Joe Thomas and Quinn. And it doesn't matter who takes whom. If you're like me, you want Quinn to enhance his ranking before the draft. [/rquoter]
I may be in the minority, but I'm absolutely sick of passing on quality offensive linemen year after year because they don't fit the right "scheme." Spencer looked too big to play tackle in the Kubiak scheme as well, and he played very solid before the injury. The reality is, offensive linemen can play multiple schemes if they have the talent. But our offensive line hasn't had that in recent years, and it's because we pass up guys like Jamaal Brown, Alex Barron and a host of others in the first round or two for a variety of those reasons. I don't know if Brown will be one of the best players available at pick 8, but if he is, I hope we take him. I'm tired of the excuses... this offensive line needs a serious infusion of talent - the kind at the top of a draft, and it's time to act on it.
I kind of agree, but Brown won't be the best pick one the board when the Texans pick. He's really a 15-20 talent who gets bumped because he's the second best player at one of the most important positions. And besides, the big P pick (Joe Staley) fits the scheme perfectly, and he should be available when the Texans pick in the 2nd round. In my opinion, Joe Staley should be the Texans number 1 target. If they have to trade down to around 20th and pick him in the 1st round, they should do it.
i'll see your sick-and-tired and raise it to include the team as a whole. how many players, period, have we passed on because of "schemes"? i really wanted julius peppers in '02 and it infuriated me to no end that capers didn't think he was a "fit" - can any of these guys actually COACH anymore? same last year with reggie bush; he didn't "fit," as if reggie bush has a singular talent... good googly moogly; it's frustrating. i get sticking with a system, especially a proven one, but if your system can't find a place for julius peppers or reggie bush then, i'm sorry, there's a giant flaw in the system and it should be trashed yesterday.
If you want an offensive lineman, the following might be depressing for you. Personally, I think everybody puts too much creedence in the "What did Denver draft" line of thinking. People make a big deal about the lack of running backs in early rounds, but if you look at the last 10 years, something strinking stands out. First day picks (rounds 1-3) 1996-2006 that were running backs 2004 - Round 2 - Tatum Bell 2003 - Round 3 - Quentin Griffin 2002 - Round 2 - Clinton Portis 1996 - Round 3 - Detron Smith Total: 4 First day picks (rounds 1-3) that were offensive linemen 2003 - Round 1 - George Foster Total: 1 If the Texans won't draft a running back early because Denver never did, then they definitely won't be drafting a lineman. Beyond Foster, the Broncos have two fourth rounders on their roster (Cooper Carlisle and Ben Hamilton), and everybody else is an undrafted free agent or an extremely late pick like a seventh rounder. Again I think this angle is given too much weight, but at least for the Broncos, the trend is pretty striking, especially considering the fact that you field 5 linemen vs. 1 or 2 running backs.
Hey, if you havnt noticed, this is not the Denver Broncos, it is the Houston Texans. Just cause kubiak coached in Denver, doesnt mean he will run the texans the same way. The texans are a different team with different needs. Those Broncos teams had good defenses and solid qb play. They also had a better oline. A great rb was not neccesary. The texans however do not have good qb play or defense yet. A playmaking runningback could help this team right now and get the offense going.
His main point was that the O line can be drafted later for this type of offensive system...which, whether you choose to believe it or not, is very similar to Denver's. I'm not sure if you just didn't read his post or don't get it.
Round 1: Okoye or Peterson Round 2: Joe Staley Round 3: QB Round 4: fast, fast, mean linebacker Round 5: Smart free safety Free Agency: Cornerback
