Why DeMeco? Guy got himself a nice contract there. Not so nice for a cash-strapped team like the Texans. Same for Walter.

DeMeco: 3/30/2010: Signed a six-year, $48 million contract. The deal contains $21.75 million guaranteed, including a $7.5 million signing bonus. Another $600,000 is available through incentives based on Pro Bowl appearances in the first three years. 2012: $5.9 million, 2013: $6.6 million, 2014-2015: $6.8 million, 2016: Free Agent

Walter: 3/5/2010: Signed a five-year, $21.5 million contract. The deal contains $11 million guaranteed, including a $5 million first-year roster bonus and all of Walter's first- and second-year base salaries. 2011: $3 million, 2012-2014: $3.5 million, 2015: Free Agent

Plus, the Texans already reportedly asked DeMeco to take a paycut AND want to give some of his reps/playing time to Darryl Sharpton.

Take a paycut or get cut. Believe it if you want or not but McClain said they didn't want to offend Winston by telling him to take a paycut so they outright cut him. And I wouldn't be shocked if they did that with anyone else.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we all like them and hate to see them go, and they're all good kids but some tough decisions will have to be made.

Loving the new McClain photoshops! They're a little late to the party, but so so worth it.

I really am honestly worried for Pancakes' health. He needs surgery. The guy is huge.

NFL Management play hardball [i.e. want to change the contract THEY SIGNED after the fact] . . . . good business
If NFL Player holds out and play hardball [i.e. want to change the contract THEY SIGNED after the fact] . . . . they are A-holes

One of the most baffling things about the NFL

The contracts aren't guaranteed. The players know that before they sign it.

And the terms can go up after the fact, the teams know that before they sign it...

IT would be a great story if Case Keenum somehow ended up in Battle Red.

A noodle-armed but deadly accurate quarterback of good character with a ton of battle-fight in him that can be had for a 6th rounder?

    Sounds like Kubiak's wet dream.

Errm, k. Note the tone of my post, hyperbole on both ends.

I've seen every single pass Keenum has thrown in Scarlet & Albino.

He's got all the moxie you could want, elusive as hell in the pocket, and can hit the flea off a dog's back running a crossing pattern, but his arm is simply weak.

I think he was a fine NCAA quarterback, but you can't have everything in life.

So in other words, perfect for Kubiak's offense.
