Yep. He has good hands so im sure someone will pick him up. I hope Tony Hollings is next because he is pathetic.
Very good point. Francis at least had the talent (in comparism to Carr) but he just was too full of himself. And I secretly still like the a lot but he threw it away. Carr may not be as talented as Steve-o but he is more likeable at least personality wise. Tha said, maybe taking Peppers would have been better but by no stretch does that make picking Carr an unreasonable/unjustifiable one.
Here's another difference, Steve immediately put up all-star caliber production his first years in the league yet he was blamed lack of production by the team, while Carr has been given a pass on his lack of production. No matter how you feel about Steve, you can't argue that he put up some of the best stats from his position from day 1 still justifying his position of being the number 2 pick overall that year, in what is becoming one of the better drafts in the last ten years in the NBA. Carr, well after three seasons the jury is still out.
Vick's teams win because of him, if you can't see that by now then we'll agree to disagree. Wins are a stat. When Tony Banks started for the Texans he won, so Carr can't even claim that, plus Vick is the best rushing QB ever.
Wins are a very incomplete stat when applied to individuals. Individuals don't win. Teams do. Chucky Brown isn't really a better power forward than Charles Barkley. Jim McMahon wasn't really a better QB than Dan Marino. No one wins alone..in any sport.
chucky brown WON. charles didn't. steve kerr WON. john stockton didn't. if you judge players entirely on whether they won or not, you'll end up with some silly conclusions. teams win.
We're talking about franchise players, not role players. That's a typical straw man argument and I won't be baited into something so silly. Try again. Honestly, I don't know why you let your obssession with Vick bring him into this argument. His team wins, the discussion was about how two Houston franchise players were perceived when their team didn't. When Vick's team loses, he'll belong in this argument.
1. i only brought in vick because when discussing him, you say there's only one stat that matters. apparently that is not the case when judging steve francis. notice that was the ENTIRE focus of my first post to you here. a one sentence post. 2. remove my chucky brown example...re-examine the Jim McMahon/Dan Marino one. maybe you'll like that one better. my point stands, regardless. teams win. great players have been on piss-poor teams. that doesn't mean those players aren't great, though. in the alternative, some very average players have won lots of games while supported by very good teammates.
I never said wins don't matter when judging Steve Francis. The point is there is no reason to go beyond wins when judging Vick. If Steve Francis only averaged 10 points and 5 assists and the Rockets won 55 games a year in his tenure, then no one would care. Since the team isn't successful (even though he led them to over .500 seasons) you go on to judge what players aren't pulling their weight. If the Texans were 11-5 and Carr had a 75 qb rating no one would care. The point is that the Texans and Rockets obviously have something holding them back, so then you go on to examine what those issues are. The Falcons are a relatively successful NFL team. So obviously there isn't any player holding them back. If ain't broke don't fix it, but you keep trying to fix the Falcons of some problem that is only in YOUR head.
Forget it all. Another Cowboys preseason game goes by and it doesn't count. What matters is my sig. End of discussion.
My main problem with Carr, and it's a biggie, is his lack of vision. Time and time again, I've watched him look at no more than two receivers, and then start running and flailing. You've got to look at more options if you want to succeed in the NFL. To those who think that Carr running too soon is due to a porous O-line, that hasn't always been the case. Watch Carr when he has a lifetime back there. He'll either make a run through the line (not around it, mind you) or he'll try to thread the needle to Johnson or whoever else is his flavor of the day. I watched Banks take over for Carr a couple of years ago. He looked stellar in comparison. Carr may very well be tough, but he doesn't seem smart enough to ever get beyond the role of a "serviceable" QB. If we can get decent value for him, I'd do it in a heartbeat, and bring Ragone or Banks, or hell! Even Symons in. I'm fully prepared to eat crow if I see marked improvement this year. I doubt that will ever happen.
why do you think that is?? this was listed as one of his strengths coming out of college...using his receivers in a pass-happy offense. the problem is he has had zero protection. zero. none at all. i believe he's been sacked more times than any QB in history over a 3 year period. our OL has been nothing short of a joke.
