I don't believe that stat. Pollard is usually nowhere NEAR the receiver when he catches the ball.

He does make a big hit every 3 or 4 games though.

I wish Pollard was our biggest problem. But honestly I'd rather give up 8 ten yard passes than give up one 50 or 60 yard pass. A defense can work with passes between 10 - 15 year but it really kills the spirit of the defense when you allow to 50 plus yard passes for TD and that's what Kareem Jackson is doing.

I agree that Pollard is terrible in coverage and that has made Kareem Jackson look even worse, but honestly Jackson looks bad all on his own. He's like a fish he bites on everything and when you throw him back in the water, he will bite on it again.

Maybe this stat takes into consideration that he was the closest man to the ball at the time of the catch?

I was pushing that, too. My guess is that on top of the injury, Kubiak had additional issues with Foster (work ethic? slow to pick up the offense?) - otherwise, why wouldn't he have been sold on Foster heading into the offseason? That 2 we used on Tate could've been used to shore up other areas of concern.

Who was that dude who claimed Dunta was better than Asomuagha because he had more tackles?

    That was lulz.

The Chronicle has reported that Allen is practicing at CB and that if he learns enough of the defensive system in practice, he will play at CB this week.

If that's the case, looks like there won't be much for him to learn and we'll be seeing him play.

I think a middle school CB could learn our vanilla defense in about half an hour.

Wasn't the drafting of Tate more of an indictment of Slaton with his fumbling and injury concerns?

Not that it helps, but he was a lot closer on his plays than Jackson, McCain, or Quin have been. Granted the one he got beat over the top on the last drive by the Jets hurts, but that seems to me more of a scheme issue. I mean, the biggest weaknesses of the cover 2 are the medium middle behind the MLB and the sidelines between the CB and the S. Hey, that's a great spot for a team needing to move a long way without taking much time off the clock. Brilliant defensive strategy there.

Yeah, he actually looked like our best DB back there. It's pretty sad.

Allen released the receiver to the S who got there late. I fault the safety. Allen did what he was told.

Right, which is why I felt that was a scheme error. When the other team wants to throw passes to the sideline, why play a defense that has that as an inherent weakness??
