There's something odd about posting in a football forum, as a fan of a team, but at the same time rooting for the team and the players on that team to fail, in order to prove a point.

If you truly want the nfl to go into financial turmoil because of this, yet you're still a fan, and posting about it in nfl fan forums, well then I think you need to examine your character, because that kind of sounds like some kind of antifa anarchy that you're probably staunchly against.

I, personally support young men using their voices to stand up for causes they believe in. They're not disrespecting anybody, no matter how blue people want to be in the face trying to believe they are. Part of society's ill nature is the fact that some men don't want to stand up for anything. Instead of standing up, they run.

Despite what I believe, or what you believe, the product on the field is no different. That's probably why people that are whining about all of this and swearing off football are still sticking around.

As far as the guy posted from Twitter, I'd be curious to see the numbers. There's roughly 1600 players in the nfl. How many are accused of domestic assault a year? 5? Maybe? I'd be curious how that stacks up to national statistics. I'd also be curious to see how that stacks up, from a percentage standpoint, to crimes committed by politicians in Washington, especially those that are against this. I can guarantee you there's less criminals in the NFL.

    Team politics trumps team fandom.

This is only true if you don't actually look at the numbers.

I'm a fan of the team and when I say the NFL players will pay a price for their actions, I kind of admire them as long as they're willing to accept the fact that they will be making less money in the future because of their stance.

We will see how things turn out.

No doubt ratings are going to fall. The question is how much and how much are players willing to take the hit.

No doubt ratings are going to fall because ...

All TV and sports ratings are falling
4 sports are happening at the same time - NBA and NHL playoffs are competing with NFL right now
More people are moving to streaming, which is not counted in ratings
There are more TV options than ever before, splitting viewers amongst more options
Younger people have shorter attention spans and have shown less interest in sports over the last decade

We have no idea if ratings are going to fall because ...

Black people are asking to be treated equally.

Also, ratings do not directly affect earnings. Ratings are way down over the last few decades while TV deals, salary caps, and player income continue to rise. Because all TV has declining ratings and is moving to DVR type watching, live sports can charge a premium for advertising. Plus, leagues make money off of streaming and other new revenue streams to account for people watching through other methods. None of this is new - people have been talking about declining ratings and how players and owners will suffer since forever for whatever their pet "I hate X Sports League" peeve is - whether it's Colin Kaepernick, new rules against helmet-to-helmet hits, fixed games in the NBA, boring slow paced NBA in the late 90's, etc. It says more about the person doing the complaining than anything about the leagues themselves.

As Major said in his post, ratings for all sports are down. If you add in the digital streaming, the 20.3 million vs 22 million last season. It is still only the 3rd TV show to exceed 20 Million views in 2020 (Superbowl and Oscars). NBA playoffs, NHL playoffs all factor in as competition. NFL will be just fine.

Why has sports viewership fallen off so much? You would think that viewership would be up in these covid times we live. I'm sure the NFL will be fine but there will be less money for the players. What the NFL will try to do to mitigate some of the damage in dely/spread out the cap hit over four years and hope all of this blows over.

Lesser TV ratings, lesser viewership will mean a lesser TV deal which will mean lesser cap money for the players. It's simple economics and owners tried to make players aware of this before all of this started.

I must run with a different class of African-Americans. They are not only my equal and are treated as such. They're great people that I call friends. We only get to play golf four or five times a year but the time together is cherished.

People have other things to worry about. Bars are mainly still closed (Bar viewership will now count in ratings). Golf, Nascar, NHL, Tennis, Soccer, etc...all viewship is down. I know you may want all the little black boys to be quiet and know their place, that's not going to happen.

This is a racist post and frankly I dont know how you got this out of my post. Like I said I somewhat admire the players. But they should know that they're going to lose money and this has nothing to do with little black boys being put in their place. This has to do with how people choose to spend their TV watching time and so far the public has spoken loudly. Some like you just dont want to admit this and spend their time trying to make this into a race thing. BTW are NFL white players (Little White Boys) being put in their place too?

It IS a race thing. That's the problem. You want all this to "go away"? Admit there is systemic Racism in America. Recognize the problem. Then, we can find solutions. Black people cannot solve the issues in our community alone. Money and resources with help from the people in POWER (i.e. White America/Corporations) that can help everyone move forward and solve problems. Equal educational resources and Jobs is what is need, ALONG with the basic RESPECT from Authority.

Lowest black unemployment in history is a great start. I started out poor as dirt and managed to do well. It had nothing to do with white privilege. It had to do with hard work and being able to not only sell what my company does to both white and black customers. Many of whom I'm friends with today and see outside of work today.

You want things to change, how about starting with not glorifying the hood mentality and dont live the stereotype if they dont want to be stereotyped.

Personally I dont care if this goes away or not. So you're wrong about this. However expect backlash from supporting lawlessness. If players support this then it will hurt them financially. I know you dont like this but it will happen.

As far as the cops go, comply with their demands and you wont get shot. This goes for Black/White/Asian/Hispanic/Green people. Fight with police and take their tasers, go to your car after the cops tell you not too, fight with them and know that you're putting yourself in position to be shot. This is very simple.

Now the Brianna Taylor no knock warrants need to be done away with. We had the same thing happen to a white couple here in Houston.

Oh....the TRUMP employment lie. Moving from 7.9 to 5.7 is not hard when the rest of the job market was also doing GREAT. Try moving from 17% (where Black unemployment was when Obama took office to 7.9....that took work. And guess where Black unemployment after Trump's lies and ****ups? Around 15% now. Trump has only himself to blame for the economy. All he had to do is not lie about COVID-19, and show leadership in preparation. He could have assured himself re-election. Because he is NOT a LEADER, he couldn't see the forest from the trees and have the foresight to understand by tackling Covid, he would help himself.

Do you NOT understand that people are just asking for to be treated EQUALLY with respect? No special treatment by the police, just treated like HUMAN BEINGS. Follow Commands? Philando Castile followed commands, but was still shot when the ****ing cop panicked. ARE ****ING SERIOUS? I could show you DOZENS of videos of people following commands and Cops still either kick them, beat them or Shoot them.

Trump has Done NOTHING but give money to the rich and corporations, while enriching himself. Criminal Reform....only did it to try win Black votes. When he saw the polls didn't move, he said he regretted doing it.

Are you saying black employment wasn't the lowest in history.

Point me out the several times you're talking about. Nah dont, we are never going to agree and shouldn't be wasting each others time.

Enjoy life in the racist world you live in. Enjoy socialism, you know things people from other countries come here to escape.

People think because they disagree with the reason people aren't watching that it can't be the reason. Did you hear the Chiefs crowd? It's clearly the reason.

You don't have to be a racist to be turned off by the league maligning the country and law enforcement as racist (you might think those things are true, but plenty of people don't and will not watch).

I liked the irony of immediately after the moment of unity, they did the tomahawk chop.

I think they should play this version of the National Anthem before every game.
