I would take Eric Weddle at #56 and Eric Wright at #73. Wright has some character issues. Weddle is a playmaker. Jason Hill is great too b/c he has the knack for the end zone. I think like 1 out of his 4 receptions goes for TDs
I say the Texans have to get the best guys to help out the team. Going down 11 spots is very drastic. Getting a late 2nd round pick and a late 3rd round pick seem like adequate compensation. But, we aren't the scouts looking at the players. If Adrian Peterson, Landry, etc. falls to 10th, then the Texans must look at their options before trading down. Every year, a guy expected to be picked higher falls. At 10th, a team is in a position to take advantage of a situation like that. At 21, your out of luck. Remember, the best trades are the ones in which your team gets the best player. So at 10th there is an outside shot your getting a franchise cornerstone. At 21 you are getting a solid starter. In the 2nd round, your likely getting someone that will provide solid depth or a possible starter. In the late 3rd round you are getting needed depth, and possibly a key guy in a couple of years.
I really hope they trade down because AP/Landry are going to be gone by #10 for sure. I think the Texans need some depth... need more picks..
If that's the case...I'd rather draft M. Griffin (who I like better than Ross anyways). Griffin has Safety experience and most scouts feel that he can move to Free Safety with no problem. He is also a better tackler IMO. But trading down has to be the best scenario in our case, unless Okoye or Landry fall. Even if AP is available, I would still like to trade down. #21: Michael Griffin #56: Arron Sears #70: Fred Bennett or Michael Bush #73 (our 3rd Rounder): Jason Hill
According to a thread on the official Texans board, the rumored trade with Denver has been completed. http://boards.houstontexans.com/forums/thread/16081.aspx
So the texans get less then what their #1 pick is worth. Way to blow it again losers. Texans | Team to move down in draft Fri, 27 Apr 2007 10:45:45 -0700 Neil Stratton, of Inside the League, has learned that the Houston Texans, as rumored previously, will swap first-round draft picks with the Denver Broncos in this year's NFL Draft Friday, April 27, in exchange for Denver's second-round pick, No. 56 overall. With the Texans' first- and second-round picks, the team is considering four players: Utah FS Eric Weddle, Ohio State WR Anthony Gonzalez, USC WR Dwayne Jarrett and Florida S Reggie Nelson. per www.kffl.com
Wow. No way. They traded down and all they got was a low second round pick? You've got to be kidding me.
It's one unknown Web site (has anyone even heard of Inside the League?). I hope we can get back into the second round, but I wouldn't consider this done yet.
KFFL has never reported a rumor in its entire existence. All KFFL does is compile a list of what's reported on other sites - in this case, whatever this "Inside the League" site is. It's always a pet peeve of mine when people say "KFFL reported"... because that's never happened. All they do is post what's reported elsewhere. They're not the source.
It's almost all we have left. They took away "b****ing about David Carr," and "We should of [sic] drafted VY!!!11" is about to be last year's old news.
According to a poster on the Denver message board, John Clayton says this deal would not happen until the Texans are on the clock. Sounds as if at least one team (or both) wants to see what's available before committing. By the way, surprisingly, it's looking like Quinn will go #1 overall, according to PFT and a few other outlets...
does seem slight considering matt schaub, every bit as unproven as the tenth pick in this year's draft, just fetched a first round upgrade and 2 #2s. in fact, the schaub deal now breaks down like this: schaub & the 56th pick for the 10th pick, 39th pick and (roughly) 39th pick next year wow.
Did you forget about the 21st pick or is there something I'm missing with the analogy? Also, I'd say this deal is 50/50 at best.
