We finally have a good GM, based on his midseason moves, so i think our offseason can finally be effective. With a lot of holes, it would help if there is less stress on the draft. Thats how it should be.
The only trouble with looking to FA vs the draft is that, with the "loser" tag firmly around our necks, we are not competetive in drawing players. We can only compete for their services by overspending or promising major roles/PT to players that would be backups on an elite team. For now, the draft is still where we will be getting our stars (Robinson, Johnson, etc). With luck we can add another player or two of Moulds' caliber through FA/trade. Evan
I am very happy we won. I am happy every time a Houston sports team wins. (don't want to bring up the QB position- during the holidays and after a win )
That is a factor, no doubt. But you also have to factor in Houston being a great city to raise a family in, along with the low cost of living (no State Income Tax) and the fact that our facilities are among the best in the NFL. There's also this little thing called MONEY which McNair doesn't have a problem spending on players. His problem is spending it on the wrong players.
I think this has more to do with Casserly then anything else. Todd Wade's contract still haunts me. Rick Smith seems like the type of guy who won't destroy the franchise like ole' Casselry.
VY is a Texan for life. What are you talking about? This win may have cost us Adrian Petterson (ethical delimma or not). Oh well whatever....who cares anyway - McNair and Kube can do whatever they want to do with their team - I could care less.
I'll bet you all the money that I have that the Texans will beat the Colts again. You do realize they will probably play each other another 30 times.
Lest we forget: there was a time in the not-too-distant past when the Colts were the doormats of the league (or very near to it). In the 22 seasons since they moved from Baltimore, they've made the playoffs less than half the time. They have been, and will be again, imminently beatable.
No, that line is indelibly reserved for Detroit "havent won a championship since the "golly gee whiz" era of the 50s" Lions. Now that organization is Incompetence Central Cubed to Infinity. What do you want to bet they draft another WR? LOL. Smith and Kuby are of championship pedigree and as long as McNair plays the "good businessman but dont know **** about football owner role," and let them work their magic both in the board room and the gridiron field, the Texans will be an up and coming team to deal with. The Colts are far from indomitable, the Jags ... LOL. The Texans and the Titans could surmount them both. The Colts are reminding me of late 80s to early 90s Oilers. All that talent and yet, cant get past the first round of the playoffs? Last year, possibly was their best chance. They may have the best offense, but they are clearly showing the possiblility of having the WORST defense in the NFL! If this doesnt improve and it may not because the Colts will still draft so low, they're screwed! They cant hide their deficiency anymore. Peyton knows it TOO! The Jags need to get a REAL QB! Garrard is an upgrade from Wrong-Wich but still falls drastically short of anything close to Pro Bowl caliber. Thus, they're one-dimensional with Drew and the oft-injured Taylor. They draft low enough that they may not appreciably improve. Plus, there is no real attraction for FA's to J-Ville! Outside of Hillbilly BAss-Ackwards, Country Ass North Florida, no one cares about the Jags! That plus, they cant beat the Texans! LOL.
Hey, the Saints were a long-time laughingstock in this league for several years! They also had promising seasons end with a thud due to second half season swoons. In this era, you can drastically turn around a franchises fortunes in a season, two at the most. Saints last year 3-13 to this year ... 11-5? Not bad turnaround if you ask me. This offseason is the first real offseason for Smith and Kuby to work their magic. Lets see what happens ...
I'm starting to not be so sure of this. I think he has his hand in more things than we think. I hope he's a hands off owner but I'm starting to ge the feeling that isn't the case and from what I can sense, he really shouldn't be making decisions
