With all due respect, that notion is ridiculous. I understand that he has a inconsistent O-line and doesn't have Andre, but for starters, he has DeAndre Hopkins and a Healthy Arian Foster. On top of that, lets be honest here. Derek Carr in Oakland has absolutely no talent around him besides maybe Latavius Murray if he is even healthy, and absolutely no weapons at WR or a competent O-Line, yet he is able to get the job done. Why is that? Because he doesn't desperately need that cast around him. He is good enough that he can elevate the play of his teammates around him. That's essentially what a Quarterback in the NFL (At least a good one) should be able to do. So this notion that we should just cast away all blame from Keenum because he doesn't have competent pieces around him is ridiculous because for one, he does. And two, his job is to play his best regardless. Overthrown short routes to RBs, Holding on to the ball too long, sometimes horrid accuracy, and forcing throws and making poor decisions are all on him.
This. Listening to all of the excuses being made for Keenum's lack of success reminds me of all of the Daryl Morey excuses for the Rockets' lack of playoff success in the 7 (going on 8) years he's been the GM.
The irrational hatred for him is confusing. He's not ever going to be a long term solution at QB, but the fan reaction is just odd.
maybe he plays with that spark he had when he first started here. maybe he doesn't have to over think about making the team like in the beginning of the year. the kid has nothing to lose, they're bringing him in as the 4th different QB, 5th if you include Thad. you don't usually get second chances but case gets his chance now. the football gods owe us one! or a hundred
Sounds like some fans are ready to have his bust displayed outside the stadium. I get that Case is likable and shows these little glimpses from time to time but at some point a player has to play well, regardless of the difficult situations he may or may not be put in. I hope he does well. But my hope should not require blame passing and should not skew objective analysis
i feel like we've done this before. beat the ravens while concussing flaco, nothing serious just out for a week or two and have manziel run circles on the ravens. not complicated at all.
bringing case back = all the bandwagon UH Fans come back. This is equal to the Lin only fans when Lin was here. In other words, tunnel vision will ensue.
Yeah Case sucks! :deeeerrrrppp: There's so many alternatives out there at QB! I think we probably passed up 10 pro bowl QB's to resign Case to appease UH fans :derp angry!!: How can Rick Smith not sign a HOF Pro Bowl QB instead of Case!?! Fire him derp! Fire him! Spoiler DEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRPPPPPPPPPPPP
The irrational hate (if you want to call it that) of Case is mostly a direct reaction to the irrational amount of love some posters have for him. It's that simple. It's not really a reflection on Case himself as it is his supporters. This is always going to happen with QBs from local colleges. Students/Alumni/Fans of those teams are going to pump up "their guy" way more than they should and others will be more aggressive in their criticism to counter the unreasonable amount of homerism going on. In this case, I'm not sure if there's a whole lot of Case love really going on now. But there was last year, and people don't want an repeat of all the excuses Case fans were making once defenses stopped playing him like he was Schaub.
He is?? Last I checked the Raiders are 2-12. He also has a worse QB rating than Keenum had last year in his first year as a starter. Carr has potential, but don't tell me he's "getting the job done."
