Was talking about this the other day: has there been a head coach in recent history in any sport who f***ed up a franchise worse than BoB did?

There have been others. However, The Texans will be able to recover fast because of getting Watson off the books and draft capital. They should compete in 2023.

From up 24 in the second round of the playoffs against the eventual Super Bowl champion Chiefs in 2020 to where they are now is an historic collapse, indeed. The nucleus of that team, outside of Watt, was pretty young, too. If Caserio has them at .500 in 2023 it will be an accomplishment.

    Bill Petersen is recent history?

The Texas have nothing but recent history.

I dont know if this is recent enough to meet your criteria. Doug Marrone?

LOL. Texans aren't going to be anywhere near competing in 2023.

I would say have the opportunity to compete fast because of that

The people that put Bill O'Brien in position to turn this franchise into a circus act are still around. I trust them to do nothing the right way, so we'll see what they do with that.

Let's see. 2022 and 2023 drafts, with 4 1st...and I think 21 draft picks available. They will $120+ million in cap space to sign Free Agents. The key really is Davis Mills. His development would speed up their timeline.

There is a legitimate way to turn this thing around quickly, but the folks at the top need to identify the best talent.

There are avenues to bring in talent with a plethora of high draft picks and cap space for free agents. As of now, there aren’t many bloated or negative contracts on the team. Plus the Texans have some very good young talent, who may end up staying on a rotation of a quality team.

Now, it’s a question of how good are the “buck stops here” talent evaluators on the Texans management. This regime has a great opportunity to build the team they want to call all their own.

Competing is basically winning AFC south for that dumbass, hence y he thought BoB was such a great coach. Man won multiple AFC south title = great coach.

Winning AFC south is quite doable actually, since there still hasnt been a dominant team in our division since manning left.

You do understand Winning the AFC South gets you a home playoff game? Got to be IN IT TO WIN IT. You build from there. If the Texans win the AFC South in 2023, that would have most of us in a happy place.
