Not to be contrary, but let's take a realistic look at next year. Statistically the NFC South is not as strong as the East. We'll have another medium/high pick in the draft this year, and some money to spend on FA to hopefully get at least one if not impact player, at least a good starter. We were pretty well beaten up by injuries along the lines, where we weren't too deep to begin with. Combine a healthy season (for once), a year of experience in Kube's system, the possibility of obtaining at least a couple of impact players through various means, I think this team could easily go at least .500 next year. Shoot, they lost 4 games this year by 6 or fewer points. They could have finished .500 this year with a few breaks going their way.
Unless we sign a big free agent, someone who could change the teams chemistry/atomsphere.. like say a Dree Brees/and draft a Reggie Bush.. then it doesn't really matter, the team will still suck and other teams will still come into Houston with all the confidence in world, knowing Houston is one of the easy wins of the league.
We can say the same thing about this season as well. We had the 1st pick, we signed a WR to play alongside with AJ, had a new coach that was suppose to mold Carr into a good qb, etc. etc. etc. So forgive me if I am not as optimistic as you. I hope we win and do well next season, but again...I am not going to be surprised if we don't. I am sure one of these years we will turn it around...
I thought NFL schedules are made a few years in advance. Like we knew Texans would play the Cowboys in the inaugural season and then in 2006. Or do they make it after the end of every season based on wins and losses?
it is made in advanced. it's made up to i think seven years in advanced. the only two unknown games are the non division, where you finished games. It seems like we play the browns, raiders, and bills every year.
The rotate through the NFC divisions just like they do interleague in baseball. The only unknowns are the intra-division games that are based on record and placing in the division. MiniMing, Could you at least let the offseason start before you start s***ing on 2007? 6-10 is what most of us predicted. While it wasn't pretty, even in the wins, it's an improvement. They are moving in the right direction. Rick Smith has proven already that he is a better judge of talent than Casserly. I think we'll see some significant roster changes over the next few months. Until then, please try and give it a rest.
Anywhere from 9-7 to 7-9. Another great draft like we had and a free agent or so and it would be good. The Texans aren't that far away. I'm pretty much guarantee jake plummer will be the qb next year and Carr will be traded for a 4th that could turn to a 3rd. My 1st priority would be Nate Clements followed by Terdell Sands and the drafting of landry. This team played well defensively after game 5.
LOL, waaaaaaaaaay too early to make any predictions for 2007. This team could be (and probably WILL be) totally overhauled come August 2007.
8-8 is a good possibility for next season. Another good draft getting our injured players back would do it.
