he's wierd. if the NBA were ran like MLB. There would not be such a thing as the San Antonio Spurs. The Lakers vs Knicks every year. They would have kobe, duncan, nash, parker, Yao, Wade, Lebron the works. Les is cheap to begin with, imagine how bad he'd be if there was no salary cap? Artest would be suspended and play the next day cause the players union is too powerful. oh yeah, BASEBALL SUCKS.
dude, baseball the sport is ok, however baseball the organization of today completely sucks. sure it has its loyal fans thanks to its history and tradition. then god decided to make basketball and football cause it was putting him to sleep. max why do you think the superbowl or national championship destroys the world series in ratings? why do people all over the world enjoy the NBA?
Oh, for a minute there, I thought you were miserable. Thanks for clearing that up... Cop out? No. Fact? Yes. It's pretty much common knowledge that, if the Texans didn't draft Mario at #1, the Saints would have drafted him at #2. He was the highest rated defensive player on the board. It will haunt him for year to come (singular). Schaub was the most highly sought after FA QB this offseason and we got him. I'll take him over any rookie with no NFL experience. I really don't think that's possible.
i like how you didn't even TRY to pretend that NBA Finals ratings beat World Series ratings...because i'm assuming you know better. the NFL destroys all in popularity. it's not even close.
omit any spurs NBA Finals. seriously, you think baseball is more popular now? in college sports no. in professional sports no. in world sports no. among minorites? no. plus in light of what's happening, it looks worse. the steriod problems, extremely uneven teams and payroll. the freaky changes like world series home court decided by all star game. they let the roids slide so that baseball can get popular again. remember canceling the world series? give me a good arguement max. tell me that baseball is good.
attendance kicks ass. since (and including) 2000....the WS ratings have averaged 12.8. NBA Finals over that same span average 9.4. That's a very large difference, even over a long span of time. we're at the point where people are seriously considering that the NBA Finals may end up being on a cable network in the near future instead of as national standard programming on a major network. uneven teams and payroll? in the nba the same damn teams compete and win it all every year. you move from one dynasty to the next. in MLB, we've had 7 different champs over the past 7 seasons! cancelling the world series happened in 1994. catch up! steroids are a problem in every sport...they're just focused on more in baseball because of individual achievement. i prefer MLB to all. i realize i'm in the minority here on that. that's fine with me. but i'll take a day at a ballpark over a night at an arena every day of the week and twice on sunday. come to think of it, i'd love a sunday double-header.
You're exactly right and the sooner people here admit that Texans screwed up picking Mario over Vince the sooner everyone will get along
My point is it has nothing to do with the pick anymore. People are just bashing each other for their own personal reasons. They are still butthurt from arguments they had with each other months ago.
I don't think Vince will ever pile up gaudy statistics as a pro. What he might be able to do is pile up wins, once he gets a better team around him. I'm the opposite of a Horns fan, but VY does seem to have kind of an instinctive feel for making the right play (Wunderlic be damned). Honestly though...if you are a real Texans fan...and you don't bleed burnt orange, whats one more botched draft pick. At least Mario Williams is gonna be a productive player...we have drafted much worse than that. But as for right now I am excited that the Texans appear to be on the right track, a good young quarterback who isn't broken down by 60 sacks a year and who doesn't hate the filmroom the way better QB hate opposing cornerbacks. We need improved line play to have a shot at the playoffs. But Schaub/Green are much better than Carr/Dayne.
I think the vast majority of the anti-sack gobblers admit that they should've taken Vince. I'm still excited at what Mario could bring, but passing up a Houston guy with that kind of talent was stupid. I'm not anti-VY, I'm anti-r****ds who make comments like "I'll never forgive the Texans" or "the Texans will never be good because they passed on VY". I'm also anti-traitor Bud Adams and anti-division rival.

The fact that you seem to get so upset over it kinda makes our point, but whatever. How was that loss any worse than any other loss? I don't recall losing any other game in OT by a 40 yard TD run straight down the heart of reliant by the hometown kid that wanted to play here and the fans wanted to be here. You might not think it wasn't any worse but I think if you ask any casual Texan fan which loss stuck out the most or which one hurt the most, 99% will have the same answer. Ric- So I guess its all about stats to you? It doesn't matter that VY/Titans won 8 games when he became the starter. You can say that it wasn't all about him and I would agree, but you don't think that a player can help the other players around him better? If you think its all about stats, that's great, but I would take "overwhemingly mediocre numbers" if that meant winning games.
