You rip on VY (the greatest player to wear burnt orange ever) and call yourself a UT fan and I'm confused? What kind of UT fan insults VY? If the "sack gobblers" annoy you, face it, you're a Texans fan first. Nothing wrong with that. When you align yourself with UT haters (make no mistake the majority of VY haters hate UT) and get called out, please don't act offended. PS - We cool
Can't speak for RM95, but I don't hate VY. I just hate all the ridiculous hero worship. And, I'll see your VY and raise you an Earl Campbell.
I don't like Roger Clemens. Is that strike 2? Or is it only football players that matter? Or only the best football players? Newsflash, the NFL and CFB are two different sports. And the Titans are my least favorite team and not because of VY. It pains me to no end that he's a Titan. PS-WE COOL.
So there are only two teams in the playoffs? Furthermore, those individual players can win games by themselves? Someone should tell that to the owners so that they save money on the surrounding talent. All you need is one player, right?!? (Wait, judging by the Titans offseason, someone might've said that to Bud Adams already... )
Speak on brother (except for maybe that very last part). It's r****ded comments like "VY will stop Texans from ever making playoffs" or "Texans will never make playoffs EVAR since they passed on VY" that annoys me. It also makes me feel better about myself reminding me that I'm not a moron.
Wow, 10-6? I'm going to go safe and say 8-8. I'm still concerned about the O-line. BUT I do think this team will be MUCH more fun to watch this year without Carr. The D-line potential also intriques me. As far as the titans go, I'm thinking 3-13 or 4-12 is pretty realistic.
I was at both of the Rose Bowls and have argued as much on his behalf as anyone on this board. But when he puts on a Titans jersey and plays against Houston, he's the enemy. It's that simple. If that makes me a hater, so be it. I'm also with msn that the hero worship gets old.
this whole website is based on heroes. heroes that emerged from that faithful day down 0-2 to phoenix. for that was the start of clutchcity, the end of choke city. if a hero is flying through the sky or on the basketball court or in a florida jail, doesn't change that he's a hero.
And yet, there is no specific forum on this website devoted to the Titans. It's a Houston board first and foremost. VY is not playing in Houston. I don't like that he's not, but he's not.
There is nothing heroic about sports. All the awe of VY, who's accomplished almost nothing on the NFL field of play, is ridiculous. He might jump the Moon, so to speak, in the annals of quarterback history for that franchise, but that would make him a star, not a hero. Or perhaps even a superstar. Or, perhaps if he fizzles like Tim Couch, a supernova.
Oh, I get it all right. It's just stupid is all. And ridiculous. And myopic. But I understand it completely. I'm not trying to downplay what VY did at UT--one of the greatest careers in that school's history, and two great Rose Bowl victories against a solid opponent. That gamewinning TD is as frozen in my mind as it is in any other Texan's mind. It was awesome. His performance the whole game was awesome. The whole season was freaking awesome. But that was college football. Dude still has a lot to prove in the NFL, and even if he is simultaneously the reincarnation of John Elway, Joe Montana, Bob Griese, and Bret Favre he *still* can't singlehandedly keep any team, the hapless Texans included, out of the playoffs. Statements like that are just stupid.
he's from Houston. a Houston legend and Houston resident and great ambassador of Houston. The major gave him his own day. There's no David Carr day in Houston. Plus the Texans are an expansion team that luckily Steve Pattersen (former Rockets GM) helped bring to this town. People threw their loyalty to the team cause they like football. Now that they've been playing for awhile, the ownership cause this rift amongst Houstonians cause they were dumb. Its like east coast hating on Tupac cause he's so good and he went to the wes coast. but we all know he's from New York. I think you are denial that there are so many VY Fans in houston, and YOU KNOW WHY HE HAS FANS. Does it hurt the hardcore Texans fan to know that the game the sold out vs Titans wasn't because the people gave two cents about the Titans or Texans? you realize Vince Young is the BEST THING that happened to the Texans, because there's no rivalry or even .1% interest at all in the Texans vs Titans game. You'd have David Carr vs Kerry Collins. ZZZZZ put on the Browns vs Bucaneers over that crap.
Is it any more r****ded than, say, "How long before VY is caught with a dog fighting ring? I give it six years."?
You do realize that David Carr is no longer with the Texans, right? I get that VY has fans, and that doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I wouldn't mind the VY discussion on this board at all, given his Houston and Austin connections, were it not for all the ridiculous vitriol surrounding it. I could handle, for example, someone pointing out a great play he makes against a great defense, unless they included, "the Texans so stupid for not drafting him and they're now cursed and they'll never win ever ever EVER!!!1!!!!!1111!!!! " Know what I mean?
I understand that. I dont speak for all VY fans. I only speak for myself cause I'm the clutchfans superhero here. I'm not hear to remind the Texans of their mistake, only to defend great heroes like Horry, Dream, Vince Young, Pirates of the Carribean, Vernon Maxwell, Tupac, when they are attacked by hatred and misinformation. for the haters of VY, its just funny that they are denial on why he has SO MANY FANS in Houston. that's like wondering why people in Shanghai like Yao while he plays for the Rockets instead of the SHarks. Shanghai-ians don't give a flipping shuriken about Houston.
Agreed--it's stupid no matter who it's directed at. YOFs get a little bit of a pass because Yao actually plays for a Houston team, even though they probably shouldn't.
