Maybe not irreversible, but the odds of chemistry issues are high wherever he goes. Owens does not fit the personality of this team whatsoever- Andre Johnson is the polar opposite of him personality-wise, as is the general makeup of the team. Now that Dunta is gone especially, the leaders of this team are not loud-mouthed guys with crazy antics on or off of the field. And Dunta was mild compared to what you see around the league. Team chemistry is not an end-all-be-all in football, but if things get a little rough in the middle of the season I can only imagine that it would be much harder to pull together if there is a guy causing issues on top of the losing. I will say that Houston would be a great media market for TO, but that's about it. Our media is pretty soft, and we don't get a heavy national spotlight like the Cowboys or Eagles. One other thing- who do you cut if you sign him, anyway? Walter and Jacoby Jones aren't going anywhere. Andre Davis is in the midst of a fat contract and is one of two kick returners, and I have a hard time believing that David Anderson would be let go (as silly as that may sound). There is just no room for a receiver here. I doubt we carry six of them.
Good god no...he is done, can't even get seperation anymore. All you are getting is a big mouthed prima donna has been. Pass. DD
I feel like the problem is that it won't be so easy to follow this plan. Once you have him, you'll find ways to justify keeping him..or you'll try and fix the problems before just cutting him. Management might have to bench him for a game. Or maybe he'll do something annoying off the field that's not bad enough to get cut, but just enough to be damaging in the locker room. Those kind of issues do cause problems, but they're not fixed immediately cause it's not enough to cause them to let go of him. So in the end, he causes issues because teams keep him around through the seemingly minor things that add up
i would consider it IF he still had skills. But with him being a nut case AND having diminished talent, no way
Remember the last over the hill receiver Texans got from Buffalo? How'd that work out? Spoiler Terrell Owens had a 98 yard catch last season, longest in the NFL. He can still get separation. TO has declined from his prime for certain, but still has enough left in the tank. Bills offense was just that bad. They dont call Trent Edwards "Captain Checkdown" and "Trentative" for his ability to deliver the ball down the field. The shallow side of my fanhood wants a big name mixed in for once. Even with a prolific offense, Texans can be just...boring? Why was Tony Boselli such a big deal though he never played? Cuz he was a big name the fans recognized. Who are the fans going to see Owen Daniels Terrell Owens Houston fans like combining names of players at the same position, like Scolandry. A Terrell Owen Daniels pairing is something they'll want
His stuff in Dallas got way over blown. I'm not sure how he would feel playing with AJ but if he were able to just draw coverage then it would be awesome but that wont happen. He wants to win and be a part of the winning process but the media follows him and takes everything he says and blows it up. He still has some unbelievable talent but man he drops a lot of passes. I would say no overall unless it is last resort tho.
He hasn't killed or raped anyone. As far as I know he hasn't been arrested, and unlike some players he plays hard. Do the rockets get the 2nd without ron ron? I doubt it.
In both Philly and Dallas, he was awesome for the team the first year. He didn't cause any problems until his 2nd season - so just release him after a year.
I spoke with a guy (his daughter/my son are on the same soccer team) who played with TO last year in Buffalo and he said that the guy wasn't a problem in the locker room at all, that he kept to himself for the most part. But he did say that TO came out of his shell for the cameras... A couple of other interesting things that he said: TO still has amazing skill and when he is getting the ball is really effective. On the flip side when he's not getting the ball or the play isn't designed for him, it's like playing offense with 10 guys on the field. He won't block for anyone and will dog routes. He said that these things were seen over and over in film sessions and he was shocked that TO wasn't even embarrassed by his own lack of effort. I'm pretty sure TO wouldn't be happy here, and I honestly can't envision a situation where the fans or his teammates would be happy with him either.
pfft. if we actually needed a WR; then *maybe* (but prolly not). sorry, i'm just biased against jackasses.
With all due respect RR: I'm in Dallas and I saw firsthand what he did to the Cowboys. Are you actually so F'ing desperate now that you'd even entertain this thought while sober? How would you like a season full of T.O.'s public and private b****ing about "how AJ is getting all of the balls thrown his way" and "they are scared of me because I'm a HOF caliber receiver and AJ is not" or "the offensive coordinator is an idiot who cannot find ways to utilize me properly". Maybe you'd get off on watching him half-ass run routes when the ball isn't coming his way or his telling any reporter who'll listen that "Schaub is playing favorites with AJ & Daniels because they are his buddies". Or maybe he'll just cut to the chase and attack Schaub's sexuality. That always seems to guarantee T.O. the top headlines... Well that PLUS his antics on the sidelines when he knows the cameras are focused on him. Oh, did I mention his "reality" TV show yet? No? Well never mind... Finally, can you for one moment imagine what this douche bag talking to Richard Justice off the cuff will say about AJ, Schaub, Daniels & Kubiak or even McNair??? Can you imagine what type of stupid articles Justice will write and keep on writing because T.O. is whispering in his ear??? If you thought Justice was bad before, just you wait. Only someone who does not have enough stupid-assed drama in their life would even propose something like this...
