so up until this point steve has proven tex right and j.r. bremer has proven him right? i'm thinking if cd called up danny ainge and asked about getting jr bremer for steve, danny wouldn't say "nah, steve has too many holes in his game for this purist, get that crap outta here."

    LMAO at Sam Fisher's post.

so is everyone here taking notes? we've got DavidS on September 28th, 2003 saying jr bremer and eric snow are better than steve francis. just in case he tries to be taken seriously at a later date, lets remember this.

for your sake David, i hope this is just a case of a friend letting a friend post drunk, and not a friend letting a friend post stupid.

    Are you angry? Good...

Does it make you mad that Francis gets no respect for his game? Good...Stew in your own anger. Francis has proven nothing. You think that "schooling" someone on a crossover is "proving something?" Please...

Francis = Four years of mediocre leadership.

He should still be on the "combo" list. He is more of a combo guard, like Baron Davis, than a PG, like Snow. He is a more complete player than Arenas; whether it be shooting, dunking, passing, court vision, or even defense.

I know it's easy to say, "let Steve prove it on the court," but he does, every single night. He played through migraines, and planta fasciitis. He shows more heart on the court than any player in the league. If Yao was left off the list for the top centers in the league (and he very well may be) people would be going ape crude over it.

I guess it doesn't really matter where they put him; we all know how good we were without him 2 years ago... I just would have expected more out of a coach as good as Tex.

Snow plays better D. Which player can take over a game? Which player can lead their team? Which player commands double teams? While it's not all about ppg, scoring is part of the game, and shouldn't be overlooked either.

Now if I'm comparing the two I would put more weight into which player can carry the team on his back, and take over a game. The answer by a long shot is Francis.

Again, That doesn't mean that Francis couldn't learn a few things from Snow's game, but if you were going to draft one player or the other for your team, and you choose Snow, then I have to question your ability to judge players.

steve might have some holes in his game but as for the best player at his position he's at worst 4th after kidd, payton and marbury. it's even more of a joke when he adds the column combo guard and still leaves steve off.

there is aboslutely no defense for tex winter's analysis.

Ha ha ha! No, it's you that takes notes.

I think it's funny that Francis was left off the list.

If that's true, that's still more than Snow has done. Snow has zero leadership. He might play better defense and give it up to players with more offensive weapons on his team better.

Part of the problem is that nobody on the Rockets has better offensive weapons than Steve.

Your logic is some of the most idiotic I've ever seen on this BBS, because you actually think that you're right.

What has Andre Miller proven? Gilbert Arenas? JR Bremer?

Oh yeah, what great leadership they've all shown.

    That's not what it's about.

Yes, you pick Francis on a draft. But in Tex's rankings it's just about completeness and competence in their postion.

Not "dominance" or the "go to man" or the "top scorer."

Why is it that you think you know about how Tex ranked these guards? You speak about completeness and competence when he mentioned nothing about it. He said the "GAME'S BEST" and he's doing it by position - right there in the article. So try reading before you spout off about things you obviously know so little about.

And if you think there is any team in the NBA that thinks Steve Francis is not one of the top 10 point guards, or top 7 combo guards in the league, you're even more stupid than your posts have already implied.

But if they can dominate from whatever their position is, then I think you have to include that in rating the player. If a guy has perfect form but still doesn't contribute as much to the team from that position, then I don't see how they can be rated higher.

It does not supprise me that Tex left him off the list. But, I would have put Francis low on "combo" list in the mid group.

Not as a "Francise player" list. Do you at least understand this?

No sure if this is answered anywhere in the thread, he had Yao as the 2nd best center after Shaq.

    -G'day-

Why would you put him low??? On the pg list hes right below Marbury, and on the combo list he should be right bellow AI and ahead of Baron Davis....

When you're a top 10 scorer, a top 10 or 15 in assists and top 5 in rebound, that tells you're really a star or superstar. Francis almost does it all. Yes, he needs to work on some of his weakness such as defending and finding the open man, but Francis is also a great clutch player. He's no doubt 2nd to A.I in combo guard. I just think that Tex Winter had lost a step on his memory.

    Well, I'll tell you.

Once in a while I see comments on this board like, "Bibby sucks" or "Arenas is a no body" or "Jason Williams is sucks" or "Snow is worthless."

And I know why people say these things. So I ignore them. In reality these guards are very smart (Jason has improved since moving to Memphis). I don't expect fans on this board to really be interested in the those other players games. They don't watch them. So, they don't see what makes them good. The only thing they see is how many points Francis can score more than them; more explosiveness and more flash.

So, may be Tex is looking at those qualities.

Is Snow better in the grand scheme of things compared to Francis? No. But that's not what I think he's looking at.

Again, on this ranking, I would put Francis low on the combo list.
