Uh, I thought this list was about who are the best PGs in the league, not about who achieve the most on their respective level. If it's the latter, then I guess I should have been on the list. Anyone who have played with me would testify that I have overachieved with what little talent I have.

    Oh, your formula is good:

jr bremer + legit star > steve francis and spectators

Let me put it this way and it's still true:

me + legit star > steve francis and spectators

Yeah, give me a legit star and I'll beat the heck out of Stevie Francis!!

Vacuum = all things being equal, one-on-one, in an ISO situation

I think it's funny that people think that players play in "vacuums" and they can just put them on a list and say, This guy is ranked #1, this guys is ranked #2, this is ranked #3 and that guy is ranked #4...one-on-one...

But when you take that player out of that perfect vacuum (list) and place them on a "TEAM." A non-perfect place where a system, plays, passes, pick and rolls, and fundamentals matter.

Well, some players might just drop off the list. Francis makes the INDIVIDUAL LIST, but not the TEAM LIST. Regardless of "athletic ability."

    That's the main issue here.

You have a different definition of "best PG" than I do.

Na-uh...because you are not an NBA player, and yet, your team still beats Francies's team. That would verify verses point. And verifies Francis's inept team skills.

And it would not be you "beating the heck out of Francis" is would be the "legit star" that would get the ball to you under the basket...i.e. making his teammates (teammates = YOU) better!

All the credit would go to the "legit star." Not you.

And the spectators on Francis's team would be looking around saying, "Pass me the ball, I'm open!"

Ah, but you are arguing that.

How do I know this? Because the Rockets were almost indisputably better than the Celtics last year.

Steve has to be on a successful team? He was. The Rockets were probably the 12th or 13th best team in the NBA last year. THat puts them in the top 50%. It's not really his fault that they play in the West.

You talk about athletic ability not compensating... but you can't get past the fact that he was the best player on an above-average team. WHile other players on that list (Bremer, again, is the most obvious) were mediocre players on mediocre teams.

You're imposing external liabilities on Francis - not a legitimate means of argument. By your standard, it's simultaneously his fault that he plays in the West - and that the 2nd best player on his team isn't as good as Paul Pierce (yao wasn't, last year).

If the Rockets play in the East, by the arguments of several people here, Francis makes the list. That's ridiculous.

Forget the list. Please keep reading the rest of the post.

My point in this post is that it is NOT ENOUGH.

Your point is that Francis's athletic ability, "compensates" enough to be on a list ahead of this guy, or that guy.

My point is that Francis's basketball smarts, or lack of, does not "compensates" to be ahead of this guy, or that guy.

Again, just like my post above. You are only thinking in one-on-one ablity terms. Not in the real world of team play in game decision making.

Oh yeah, what great leadership they've all shown."
