They named it after Tesla because they use his AC motor and I guess as a tribute to him. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikola_Tesla
I was actually humming Edison's Medicine while searching for that pic. I really need to keep up with the local concert scene, most of the bands I like dont get their shows advertised on radio or tv....so imagine my surprise to find out that not only is Tesla still together, they were just in town last month AND they have a new album. (listening to it right now, so far so good), I just ordered it online since you cant find music from bands like this in local stores.
I think we can easily give this one to the Europeans. Plus Tesla was practically American and was a huge patriot.
The more expensive roadster has much better performance than the sedan and the sedan is mass-produced whereas the roadster isn't. The roadster's performance is almost in a league with supercars, while the S is fast, but nowhere near that class. As for the price, I believe there's a $7500 tax credit, too, isn't there?
It varies, but Tesla's site says about 1 cent per mile. Others I've read are reporting 3-4 cents per mile.
How sad for Tesla that their most famous/popular song was a live cover...it is not even that they made a great cover, just covered a good song that a generation hadn't heard before. But....uhhhh...cars are cool. When I was in middle school I had a binder with all the designs and specs for my first concept car. It looked like the sporty Tesla only way more b****in'. I think physical cars that you purchase are things of the past. The future is "on demand"/streaming transportation.
[Purely looking at cost] It all depends on the price of gas I guess. At $4+/gallon, 60k isn't too bad (assuming the car lasts 10+ years). At $2/gallon, I don't drive enough to justify the expense.
well, that really depends on what your definition of success is. Amongst rock fans, that isnt the song they are known for....maybe amongst the pop types who wouldnt know a real rock band if it sat on them, Signs is their best song...but it aint even close to their best one. Modern Day Cowboy, Heaven's Trail, Love Song and Song and Emotion are the more popular songs for the people who actually like hard rock.
Well yeah I was talking about general popularity and the reason the majority of people would have heard of them was because of Signs. As for your second part, you got me there. I was a huge metal guy at the time but I never cared about or liked Tesla.
So does anybody have one these bad boys? Or know anyone that has one? Can't even test drive one in Houston.
actually, yes. The CEO of the company I work has one, he should be bringing it by sometime soon so we can test drive it
