i agree that islamic ****tards are the "root" of the terrorist problem (at least as it's exported to much of the world), and i say this with a very dear friend, of muslim (cultural) extraction, currently in Mumbai, having arrived there on 11/22 with his wife and two yound daughters for a first visit with family... ...but ****tards do not a religion, nor a culture make, something both the incoming US administration, and muslims the world over, would do well to remember. would that they could all walk that very fine line with the finesse, humility, and generosity of spirit as our current commander in chief.
The footage of the 2 year old child crying at his parents' funeral for his mommy wrecked me this morning. That will be with me for a long time. The footage of the rabbi at the funeral calling for revenge made me sad as well. I really struggle with this stuff. I don't know what the answer is.
Gut wrenching.......how can people not feel for those that they hurt, don't they see them as human beings? DD
I may be an idealist, but I believe deep down that people can relate on more than just a primal level if given the chance. DD
As I heard the rabbi call for revenge, I thought..."great...so another 2 year old boy can cry for his mommy..." on and on it goes.
I'm not sure I see it that way anymore. It's a matter of desired endpoints. Their is nothing dishonorable in fighting against hatred. Yes it sucks, but it's not indicative of succombing to hatred yourself.
Just read how the surviving terrorist described shooting a boy once and, since the boy was crying after he was shot, he shot him again to "shut him up". It's as if the terrorist himself was never a boy who grew up. Unbelievable.
Destroying fundamentalism means invading Pakistan. The government has shown no incentive to make the moves it needs to make. It takes a complacent approach to finding terrorists, allowing kids to be brainwashed by fundamentalists and creating a never ending cycle of hate. The types of excuses thrown out by Pakistan over the past 5 years have been pathetic, such as "lack of evidence" and viewing the Taliban as "patriots". They are barely capable of governing themselves, if they had some oil or sources of prosperity the US would already be in there.
Let's stop being politically correct and discuss the real issue at hand. Every major conflict in the world (outside of Ireland) has at least 1 Muslim party involved. This is a religion that has been unable to adapt to the modern era, and it is too stubborn to make the right changes in terms of dealing with this in their "teachings". As a result, there has not been a lot of prosperity in Muslim nations (outside of Dubai --- which ironically is westernizing as a result) and it leads to kids being easy victims of brainwashing as they lack a proper education and cannot think for themselves. Something has to be done about the interpretation of Islam, especially in countries with low literacy rates.
Islam is not the point. I'm muslim and it's not written in the Coran to kill innocent people. Never! These terrorists are fools and deserve to go to hell that's it. Stop saying it's because of the islam's view.
All this talk about "evil" is nonsense. These well orchestrated attacks we see all over the world have one thing in common - people who go in to a situation with no realistic hope of coming out alive. Basically a suicide mission in the name of Islam. This makes it very easy for the fundamentalist leaders at Lashkar-e-Taiba to come up with plans to create "chaos" and "evil". It takes some planning, but not much intelligence or creativity when you have servants of a religion willing to sacrifice their lives to achieve an end result. From CNN:
I'm atheist and saying it's because Islam cannot be interpreted in a positive manner in low literacy nations during the modern era. Show me the success stories.
