^dont forget the 7/11 London bombings last year The usual suspects showing up in more news reports: *looks more and more like Dawood Ibrahim is responsible -- he was the architect of the 1993 bombings in Bombay that killed 250+ people, but now lives a life of luxury in Karachi courtesy of the Pakistani government *Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), a member of Osama bin Laden's International Islamic Front For Jihad and which also has close ties to the Pakistani government, is also involved. The article below incorrectly calls it a "Kashmiri separatist" group. The LeT is not based in Indian Kashmir - it is based in Pakistan; it is not made up of Kashmiris (most of its members are of Pakistani Punjabis), and its goal is not to "free" Kashmir from India. Its goal is to turn all of India into an "Islamic" nation. After that, its goal is to work on the rest of the world. It receives large amounts of arms, support, and training from the Pakistani government. *Aside from carrying out terrorist attacks in India, the LeT also has been linked to the recent terrorist plot in Canada, the 7/7 and 7/11 bombings in London last year, and planned attacks in the US as well as Australia
The government came out at first and claimed Eta, but that was for political purposes with an upcoming election. It turned out that it was in fact a Muslim group.
This is true for any extremist, Christian as well, and you don't have to go back to the crusades to find examples (No. Ireland bombings through last century, Serbia, even McVey and Randolph in the USA). Sure around the world much of the terrorism is associated with Muslim extremists, but the key word there is extremist.
Absolutely.....you must establish that first before you start discussing things like percentages, propensity, and relevance to the here and now.
Today is actually the 11th Aniversary of Srebrenica Massacre/Genocide I received this as a bulletin on another site so I don't have a link or anything On Tuesday, July 11th 2006, the eleventh anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre, nearly 500 newly identified victims will be buried at the Memorial Center Potocari near Srebrenica. More than 8000 people were killed in the supposedly safe haven protected by the UN (UN Soldiers including the American Army stood by and watched the genocide of Muslim, Men, Women and Children). This many people deserve to be remembered and we must never forget these innocent men, women and children that were murdered by Serbs in Srebrenica, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Justice has to be done, by capturing the two men responsible for these vicious crimes: Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic. The killing of Muslims continues in the Philipines, China, Chechenya (Caucasia), Krygistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kashmir, Palestine, Iraq, Afganistan, Aceh under the new title "War on Terrorism". When you learn the history of this global conflict it is easy to see what is going on. Unfortunately, the issues are more complicated than most people think. American diplomats in the Clinton Administration forced NATO and the UN to place an arms embargo against the Muslims in Bosnia. Many Americans still think that they helped stop Slobodan Milosovic. However, this arms embargo only left millions of Muslims in Bosnia without a properly armed military to protect themselves. While Moscow sent arms and soldiers into Bosnia to assist in Europes "ethnic cleansing" of Muslims.
I seriously thought you were going to say something about India and 7-11. I'm pretty sure that means I'm going straight to hell.
There is not as much tension in India between Hindus and Muslims as many over here would like to believe. Especially in Bombay, where most of them tend to live side by side.
I'm sorry, but Bombay (Or should I call it Mumbai, as Bal Thackeray & Shiv Sena would have me call it in order to emphasize its "exclusively" hindu roots?) and the surrounding areas of Gujarat are some of the real flashpoint areas for ethnic/religious violence (such as, say, the bombings today?). That is not to say that it is in a continual state of civil war or anything like that, or that there aren't a lot of different ethnic and religious groups there - but it's pretty rife with ethnic/religious politics.
