And? More than likely the threat came from some social media or online forum source that has nothing to do with Minnesotan Muslims. Nice conjecture though. You seem to be really good at it. You must be living in fear constantly if I am assuming correctly you are still a resident of the greater Houston area as Houston has one of the largest concentrations of Muslims in North America. Poor you. Actually, I have no empathy for fools with irrational fears.
They did it because American media would love the story. It is the only type of international news appealing to most Americans and ISIS can get free publicity about how badass they are and the military industrial complex benefits. A win for all sides.
This same ****ing terror group Al Shabab destroyed Westgate Mall in Nairobi Sick individuals Anyway this was always on the cards. Minnesota has a huge muslim poulation with a lot of them being trained to be terrorists
Don't be dense. Minnesota has one of (maybe THE) largest Somali Muslim populations in the United States and the US government has confirmed that Somalis from Minnesota have gone to fight with Al Shabab in the past. It's no coincidence that Al Shabab would call for an attack on a mall in the backyard of the Muslim Somalis that they know. Duh... That doesn't mean all Somalis in Minnesota are terrorists, just that there are some who have been proven to sympathize with Al Shabab.
I think it's more reasonable to assume that the largest mall in America that is called "THE MALL OF AMERICA" is a national icon and would be a target by a terrorist origination. If you know anything about rudan's post history, it would be reasonable to assume his "MOAR MUSLIMS" answer is a bigoted response rather than a rational response.
I'm not denying your post or anything but is that really true about the huge muslim population? Minnesota doesn't strike me as a place with a diverse community.
Come on man. Be serious for a moment. You think if the "Mall of America" was in Alabama that they'd still call for the attack? The fact that it's the largest population of Somalis has nothing to do with it? The fact that the intelligence community has confirmed members of that community have gone and received training from Al Shabab has nothing to do with it? They also called for an attack on a mall in Edmonton with a non-descript name. Just so happens that Edmonton houses a significant Somali population. Hmmmmmmmmm......
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somali_American I mean it's Wikipedia but a quick google search pulls tons of articles about this.
Why can't we have both? The fact that it has an iconic status as the largest mall in America makes it a good target. The fact that there is a famously large Somali community nearby makes the threat seem more credible. And, the bonus is that they don't need to have any capability or intention to attack the mall; just the threat should be sufficient to hurt sales there and induce fear. Of course, if they can do an attack, the effect would be so much the greater.
