This can be viewed as a scam nowadays...even if unintentional. This "scenario" was actually the way to get the kid a 360. What do you think is going to happen if someone puts a legit (at least, from the kid's viewpoint) video out on YouTube showing a poor family's kid opening a 360 box filled with clothes? Answer: He's going to get a 360 from someone who feels sorry for him. Who benefits? The kid and the whole family. Even if the whole family was in on it and did it to get a laugh at the expense of the kid, the net result is a pouring in off offers to really get the kid a 360 and some games out of it. I mean...you can't just give him a 360 without any games...right? lol. Right...now that kid is playing a 360 and his parents actually helped him get it by doing what they did. So...? It wouldn't surprise me if many more people attempt this to see what generosity will result...because it will. It wouldn't surprise me that if, in the end, the family sold the donated 360 and games to get some money out of it...to pay some bills or something. I mean...if they weren't really trying to scam a 360 from the general public and are poor...they probably need the money and have no problem taking the 360 away from the kid given they game him an empty 360 box. lol. So, who really got screwed on X-mas morning? Maybe the kid and the general public. lol
Yeah, it's good to learn to hate everyone at an early age. He'll get enough flak from his PEERS in school, but the parents and family should be a foundation of principle, not another obstacle. Good parents condition their kids via love, trust and authority while the kids are impressionable. That's far from tough love.
blah blah blah It will teach the kid to have a sense of humor. That's something the p*****s in this thread do not have.
dude, seriously...wth? Sometimes you're cool, other times it's like you're just trying to play a character here on the BBS.
Let me explain it to you. This kid is fine. He is more than fine. He has a family that loves him enough to pull a joke on him. It can be easy to just buy a kid's love. Everyone laughing in the video loves him very much, or they wouldn't have done that. In the long rung it will bring them even closer. He obviously isn't neglected. I'm sure his family members would do anything for him. I see a lot of dumbasses in the world but these guys actually weren't some of them. They did this do him because they love him. And because it is ******* funny.
I don't even care about that (though I don't agree). It's that everyone that disagrees with you makes you so angry. 'no sense of humor', 'p*****s' and all that. it's just strange.
A sense of humor?? I'm pretty sure he was extremely embarrassed as tears came streaming down his face. He looked like he wanted kill every person in that room. That was cruel, and far from funny. I feel really bad for the kid. I understand how he feels, being not too far removed from dreaming of getting a sony playstation for christmas.
Easy now, it's obvious he was being sarcastic. It was a lame attempt at humor, much like the parents in that video.
You don't build up a childs dreams just to shatter them, Any parent that says "Cry into the camera" and giggles there ass off about it has problems.....
And must be bitter that they never had it good, or something. My Dad never had squat growing up... And in turn he sort of "over did" the gifting to me... for a time. But when I got old enough to I had to learn to earn things by working for them. This prank on the kid in the video is a way to build resentment, not responsibility. If I let my kid believe I'm getting them something, then fail them (and in the case of this video -on purpose to get a laugh?) I run the risk of losing the child's trust... not only in me as a parent, but in people and society in general. No I don't believe kids should be raised to expect everything and feel entitled to the latest game consoles or cars and clothes, but I also feel that one of the greatest responsibilities a parent has is to instill aspects of trust and integrity in your child. This instills the concepts of deceit and paranoia... and distrust in the system. Still not funny.
I find internet comments that the kid will gun down people because of this "trauma" far more disturbing than the prank itself. There are people from lousy families who grow up just fine.
