how about terrible exectuion from both teams for most of the game, esp the last minute. its like before the game they met and made a bet on who can **** up the most. clowns
good point, next time, if your coach don't call a timeout, someone on the floor should call, you need to inbound the ball to someone who can shoot freethrows and not turn the ball over
Game 3. If Harden goes for 2 and does not get the and one, or worse yet it doesn't get called and he gets fouled and misses, we lose anyway. Harden and Beverly had 5 fouls and wouldn't have lasted some extended time. If Harden hits, we win, if not, the same outcome was likely. You take your chances with your best player. Great call by coach and Harden.
Everyone has already explained Game 3. That was actually good execution down the stretch. They frankly shouldn't have even had a shot. Just missed threes by Harden. When those shots felt right, because he was having a solid quarter. Last night was obviously a cluster all around. To be fair, Harden was still a +/- 0 yesterday. He didn't necessarily almost lose us the game... at least not the extent Anderson and Capela have been horrible, specifically Capela, and losing us the game. But absolutely, Harden had a very very clean game 1, and then has reverted to turnovers a bit. Some of this is him sometimes getting those foul calls outside, and sometimes just losing the ball. But the turnover in the final minute was absolutely horrendous and very non Harden like. I can't remember a time when he ever did something like that down the stretch. And finally, as good as MDA has been, I just can't understand why he wasn't screaming for a timeout after that Abrines tip. I'm also a little offput by having Harden be the box out guy across from Nene on those final free throws. On the one hand I get that Russ missed in Game 3, and Harden being there allowed him to get the ball and push for that potential game winning 3. On the other hand, as we saw yesterday, Ariza instead of boxing out Adams decided to hedge down to help Harden. I also recall seeing Harden having to box out Gibson on those free throws once or twice. That's just not a fair match there. And especially at the end, when you have timeouts... put a rebounder in there. Afraid of Capela getting fouled? Put Anderson in there. He's not exactly Rodman out there, but he's just taller and more capable than Harden at boxing a free throw there, imo. Or have Capela in there across from Nene, and have either one call a timeout. And Ariza.... jesus, I get hedging down to help, but this is basketball 101 stuff... your responsibility is the shooter there first and foremost.
This depends on if you're referring to in the paint or outside the paint. Harden's numbers drop off significantly from "at the rim" vs. between 3ft away from the basket to the 3pt line. At the rim: 0.68 3ft - 10ft: 0.37 10ft - 16ft: 0.41 16ft - 3pt line: 0.42 Total 2pt%: 0.53 Total 2pt% not at the rim: 0.39 Total 3pt%: 0.34 So if you're including points in the paint, then yes, 2>3 For every 10 2pt shots, Harden would score 10.6 For every 10 3pt shots, Harden would score 10.2 However, if you take away points at the rim, then no, Harden for 2 is NOT better than Harden for 3. For every 10 2pt shots NOT at the rim, Harden would score 7.8 #TakeThatForData
Add Game 5 to this list as well. 3:32: Rockets up by 9 points (101-92), Thunder get 4 shot attempts from 3 offensive rebounds. 2:21: Careless turnover by Nene, stolen by Roberson, Westbrook layup. 1:49: Rockets turnover, shot clock violation. 0:36: Nene takes a 3. 0:22: Careless turnover by Beverley in the backcourt, stolen by Adams, Westbrook layup, lead cut to 4. This team has proven game-after-game, they are unable to closeout the 4th quarter without blowing a lead. Rockets just have been lucky Thunder failed to capitalize. The argument that this is the playoffs and games are going to be close is not going to work here. This is terrible, ugly, nasty execution at the end of games. I just want this team to play smart basketball for once in the last minutes of the game. Is that too much to ask?
