He really reminds of doug christie. Not the doug christie that was in sacramento, but the one who was in ny,seattle,la,and toronto. I played against christie in college and kinda follwed him afterwards. He was a great athlete, with a very good handle, good vision, good defensive ability, and a shaky shot. He didnt get to see the floor as a rookie because of a hold out in seattle. He was traded to I believe the knicks and we know how riley is. Then he was in la for a cup of coffee before being traded to toronto. In toronto he started to find himself. The coach had christie, mcgrady, and carter all basically 2/3 spots. He finally started to play them together and he was basically a pg. Thats when his game started to click. Sacramento traded for him because of this veristility. Once they got bibby and his 3 ball became more consistent he worked perfectly for that team. Great defender, great ballhandler, great athlete with length, and just overrall good player. Had adelman gotten Christie in his earlier years, he would probably be in the same position. Adelman kind of players have to be good at one thing vs being a jack of all trades. It happened that when christie got there, he really needed just that well rounded kind of player. I think if williams just keeps grinding and plugging away, someone may see his talent more important than how it is being viewed now.
Furthermore, from the way Simmons wrote it, I was under the impression that it was just something that was constructed by the sports networks/ESPN as a way to create a story for the Finals, and it was just an utterly r****ded idea. I wouldn't know for myself.
Going with the guards Guard Courtney Lee missed Monday's practice with flu-like symptoms. If he can't play, coach Rick Adelman said he'll probably play three guards — Kyle Lowry, Kevin Martin and Aaron Brooks - rather than move Terrence Williams into the rotation. Adelman said he would consider a shorter rotation to get greater consistency but has not gotten the play to warrant that. "I have to find some consistency," he said. "I think it's really important to get Aaron going. He means a lot when the game is on the line. He's been kind of up-and-down. We have to get him where he is confident going into the end of the game."
It was hype by the networks but I think everybody wanted to see the matchup of Jordan against Drexler in the finals, it was fun to watch. I'm just saying by that period in time Jordan was without a doubt the best in basketball. I apologize for the are you joking comment, sometimes I think if you wrote about it that you saw it live, I forget how old I'm getting.
I don't think it has anything to do with him not getting the system. Even if he gets it, he's not going to get time over Martin, Lee, Battier, Lowry, and Brooks. Even if Budinger falls out of the rotation, I think you'll see more of the small lineup with Lowry and Brooks before Williams. Once the deadline passes, and perhaps Brooks and Battier are traded, then you might see him. Or by the time March gets here if we are too far back, he'll get more minutes. Right now Adelman has to worry about finding a rotation that's going to get us to the playoffs, whether we like it or not. That's his job.

Leaving KMart on the bench in favor of Brooks. Lee isn't playing much anyways, so this is really no surprise. Twill will only see time if someone gets traded or injured or fouls out.
I'm hoping that playing Brooks while leaving Martin on the bench means that they are trying to get Brooks stock up for a trade. I actually think that playing Brooks so much when he has been sucking has played us right out of a few games.
Yes, because the game has completely changed and there is a whole new breed of coaches with these adaptable styles that are winning championships left and right. You're an idiot. The system is old because it works. Same with the triangle, same with Jerry Sloan's system, same with Pop's system, same JVG defense (that comes from Pat Riley). There is nothing new under the sun in terms of basketball strategy.
I'll say it again... He's not a D-Leaguer. I don't get it, anyway. Is that supposed to be some kind of insult? Do you even know how many guys have played in the D League? 2Pat and Ish played more games than Terrence did in the D-League... They must be D-Leaguers, too. And I still haven't seen anyone call the kid a star...

Pick a direction. If you're playing for the future then he absolutely should be playing (cutting into Battier's minutes). If you're playing to win now then it makes sense that he's stashed on the bench. Of course, if winning games was our intention you would think Jeffries would be playing over Hill. The point is: I don't think the Rockets know what they're doing yet. Basically just stalling for another couple weeks until the trade deadline.
No context. If you read the OP, it becomes pretty clear that he's comparing Terrence to Gerald when Gerald was a King and couldn't get off the bench. Granted, the OP does go on to say that he thinks Terrence could be an All-Star somewhere else down the line, that's hardly the main thrust of his post. Nor is it a sentiment that's shared with the majority of the posters on this forum. It's there's a huge, huge difference between saying, "Maybe some day." and, "He's a star!" Surely you can see that. Again, why does everything on this board have to be one extreme or another?
If your going to be offensive to posters at least make sure you are right first. Nothing new under the sun? We are witnessing a basketball transformation even now! back to the basket post players are becoming more and more rare, Guards are starting to go into the post more than ever, and face-up power forwards are the thing of the future! The rockets were one of the first teams to use the stretch 4. If you don't think that Coaches are constantly adjusting their strategy to the game, then you are just wrong, period.
Would you rather have TWill or Iguodala? For my money, I'd take Williams, on a rookie contract, over Iggy at this time. Wallace? Williams is not that big. Wallace is an oversized 3. Wallace is a 3/4 tweener. Wallace is not a playmaker. They are totally different type players.
Last time Adelman said whatever to the media... Williams ended up playing, and Adelman later said he "just didn't tell the truth".. Something like that.
